Job Title: Portuguese (Brazilian) Technical Document Translator cum Reviewer
Location: Northford CT and St Charles, IL (USA Remote)

Job Description:
What You'll Be Doing:
Native fluency in Brazilian Portuguese and excellent proficiency in English.
Min 3 years of experience translating/quality check technical content (electronics, engineering, software, safety systems, industrial automation).
Deep understanding of Brazilian regulatory standards (e.g., INMETRO certifications, ABNT documentation norms).
Familiarity with technical authoring tools and document types (DITA, XML-based content, InDesign, MadCap Flare, Illustrator) and Jira.
Experience using translation memory and terminology management tools.
Strong attention to detail, linguistic accuracy, and layout awareness.
Meticulous attention to detail and strong proofreading/editing skills.
Strong technical understanding of products and systems
Proficiency in authoring tools like Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, or similar
Attention to detail and accuracy
Experience with graphic design tools (if needed)
What We Are Looking For:
Degree in Translation, Linguistics, Engineering, or Technical Writing.
Experience working with fire alarm systems or industrial safety systems (preferably)
Exposure to UL/ULC standards and U.S.-based safety compliance documentation is an asset.
Experience working in multilingual documentation teams or localization projects for LATAM markets.
Knowledge of industry standards for technical documentation:
IEC/IEEE 82079-1: A documentation standard
VDI guideline 2770: A guideline for exchanging documents
ISO 2651x: Software documentation for target groups
