Job Title: MUMPS / InterSystems Cach Developer Consultant

Location: Remote

Duration: 6+ months

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced MUMPS / InterSystems Cach Developer to join our team as a consultant. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in developing, maintaining, and optimising healthcare applications built on the InterSystems Cach database and MUMPS (M) programming language. The consultant will collaborate with business and technical teams to ensure seamless integration with other systems.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain applications written in MUMPS (M) and InterSystems Cach ObjectScript.

Analyze existing code and systems to identify areas for optimization or modernization.

Create and maintain technical documentation, including system specifications and workflow diagrams.

Integrate Cach-based applications with external systems using APIs, HL7, or other interfaces.

Support migration, upgrades, and data conversions between legacy systems and newer platforms.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (business analysts, QA, infrastructure) to ensure successful project delivery.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to internal teams as needed.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of hands-on experience with MUMPS (M) and InterSystems Cach / IRIS databases.

Strong understanding of Cach ObjectScript, Cach SQL, Cach classes and object oriented programming

Strong understanding of Global data structures and class mappings.

Experience in healthcare IT, EHR/EMR systems.

Knowledge of HL7, FHIR, SOAP/REST APIs, or other integration protocols.

Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.

Strong communication and documentation abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with InterSystems IRIS for Health, Ensemble, or HealthShare.

Exposure to modernization projects (e.g., migrating from legacy MUMPS to IRIS or other technologies).

Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, or SQL.

Understanding of healthcare data standards and regulatory compliance (HIPAA, etc.).

Education

Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
