Qualifications
To qualify for a IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/DATAMGT), your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
- Evaluates system performance and identifies preventative measures and/or problem areas by troubleshooting performance issues and modifying application operation, as needed.
- Prepares reports and maintains records of program accomplishments and administrative information.
- Coordinates the preparation, presentation and communication of project-related information to the supervisor.
- Provides expert advice and collaborates with system administrators, database administrators and other IT Specialists on such complex requirements as installs, upgrades and urgent fixes that simultaneously affect the operating system, database and application.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience architecting, implementing, and maintaining SAP systems across various modules.
- Understanding of SAP system integration, ensuring seamless data flow and process automation.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, effectively partnering with business stakeholders to deliver impactful SAP solutions.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

Duties
Help
- Monitors assigned applications, performing regular and special checks and tests/verifications of the applications as well as underlying operating system (OS) and Relational Database Management System (RDBMS).
- Maintain program and administrative reference materials, project files and relevant background documents and make available policies, procedures...
- ...and written instructions from the supervisor; maintain current knowledge to answer questions from team members on procedures, policies, directives, etc.
- Maintains current knowledge of on-going projects and assignments within the branch to ensure consistent mission support during times of absence and increases in work volume.
- Develops, plans and schedules, estimating project and special assignment resource requirements, defining milestones and deliverables, monitoring activities, and evaluating and reporting on accomplishments.
