Job Details

The Business Process Analyst will primarily work on a multi-project initiative to address functional and operational concerns. Other project work may be assigned on as needed basis.

Generally, this work involves examining, improving, and streamlining business processes across and/or within functional groups. The analyst is responsible for identifying inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement in existing business processes through thoroughly analyzing current processes and identifying opportunities to optimize processes that allow the organization to better achieve its strategic goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Multi-Project Initiative

  • Partner with Stakeholder to frame project through creation of Project Charter, project plan and schedule for each project phase and assist in completing the following deliverables:

o Phase I Current State:

  • illicit and document the current state of our cross-functional Afloat process, including roles, responsibilities, workflow, policy, procedures, and any other practices in place to perform this work
  • create current state map depicting how the work is done and by whom
  • clearly articulate and document all pain points in the current process

o Phase II Organizational Structure:

  • analyze the pain points uncovered in the current state mapping
  • participate in understanding the nature of discovered pain points and their relationship to current organizational structure and role definition
  • work with team to envision alternative structure and roles that aim to either reduce or eliminate pain points created by structure and roles
  • document revised structure
  • address remaining pain points through analysis, envisioning alternative solutions, and documenting those solutions
  • create a complete future state map that incorporates structure and workflow

o Phase III Process:

  • develop and document new processes that support future state structure and workflow
  • assist with training preparation and other activities related to operational hand-over

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS General

  • Conduct thorough analysis and process mapping to accurately identify obstacles, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement
  • Create process documentation and guidelines, including standard operating procedures and workflow diagrams
  • Develop and implement processes and/or technologies that seek to optimize operations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process change and to ensure smooth transition and minimal operational disruption
  • Provide training and support to team members on new processes and best practices
  • Assist with management of project lifecycle, from initiation through planning, execution, and closure
  • Draft key project documents, including project charter, scope statement, and project schedule
  • Create and deliver project status reports

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, SKILLS and COMPETENCIES

Work Experience

Minimum of five years of experience that includes:

o 5 years of experience in business process analysis and project management

o Exposure to production operating environments either as staff or through BPM work

Education/Certification

  • Bachelor s degree in business or project management or any related field
  • Lean certified or Lean/Six Sigma green belt certified (optional)
  • PMI PMP certification or equivalent years of experience (optional)

Skills and Competencies

  • Familiarity with process mapping and modeling techniques
  • Ability to perform current state process analysis and future state business design work
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, study, and interpret complex data
  • Solid communication skills with a focus on collaboration and change management
  • Experience managing projects from concept through implementation; solid working understanding of project scope, goals, milestones, deliverables, detailed tasks and resource requirements, and management of user expectations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, Visio, Lucid, and Atlassian (Jira, Confluence)
