DPP is seeking an Aerospace Engineer III for an opportunity in Plano, Texas.

Work arrangement:
  • Onsite in Plano, TX
  • W2 position; 12 months
  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain a US security clearance.
Position summary:

  • As a thermal modeling focused aerospace engineer, you will research, design, develop, test, certify, deploy and improve cutting edge products and services. These cover a wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft.
  • You'll develop complex aerodynamic components, structures, and systems. Your technical duties involve the design and development, analysis, and test of new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle.

  • This team is a leading manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for high-performance intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, and aviation systems.
  • The team tailors solutions to customer cost, performance, and schedule requirements and designs to consistently exceed expectations and provide a turnkey approach to enable our customers to focus on their mission.
Responsibilities include:
  • You will analyze and troubleshoot complex aircraft interior heat-transfer models, heat exchanger flow paths, and exhaust plume impingement problems within the NC3 business area.
  • You will plan, schedule, execute, and report thermal analysis campaigns for transport-category aircraft to support other engineering disciplines.
  • You will review and compile results from the analysis team and present findings and results to internal teams, leadership, and customers.
  • You will work with the flight test and ground test teams to plan and reduce data from aircraft testing to validate the analysis models and/or show compliance to certification criteria.
  • You will identify gaps within the existing thermal analysis workflows, assist with organizing training, and identify analysis tools to enable successful program execution.
Education/experience:
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or other related discipline and typically 6 or more years of relevant experience
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Experience using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools to analyze aerodynamics and heat transfer problems for aerospace vehicles
  • Experience analyzing free- and force-convection heat-transfer models for aerospace vehicle interiors
  • Successful execution of thermal analysis in support of 14 CFR Part 25 Type Certification (TC) or Supplemental Type Certification (STC) or programs
  • Understanding of Computer Aided Engineering tools and Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
Preferred:
  • Familiarity with testing to support thermal analysis model verification and validation Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
  • Understanding of system-level static and dynamic modeling and simulation
  • Experience with Siemens STAR-CCM+ and/or FLOEFD preferred
  • Knowledge of industry standard aerospace principles, including, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, fundamentals of flight mechanics
