Title: Sr. Oracle Database Administrator
Duration: Fulltime/Long-term contract
Location: Must reside in proximity (40-50 miles) to New Orleans LA
In-office requirement: Hybrid 3 days in-office per week
Position Summary:
Seeking an experienced Oracle DBA to manage enterprise database systems, ensuring availability, performance, and security. The role involves working in a multi-vendor, global environment with opportunities for cross-training in Oracle and SQL Server.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain Oracle and SQL Server database systems and associated technologies.
- Design and optimize database structures (tables, indexes, partitions) to ensure performance and scalability.
- Monitor system health and tune database performance to maximize uptime and efficiency.
- Administer database security, including access control, encryption, auditing, and vulnerability management.
- Manage vulnerabilities throughout our database fleet in accordance with established policies/procedures
- Implement and manage robust backup and disaster recovery strategies to minimize data loss and downtime.
- Lead and manage database-related projects, including cloud migrations and process improvements.
- Collaborate with developers, infrastructure teams, and external partners to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.
- Conduct regular health checks and performance assessments of database systems, recommending and implementing improvements as needed.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in database administration, evaluating and implementing new tools and techniques to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Work seamlessly alongside a group of outsourced partners who supplement our DBA service offering to meet SLAs/OLAs.
- This position will require occasional after-hours support and participation in an on-call roster with both employees and contract support resources.
- Maintain detailed knowledge of our operational practices.
- Demonstrated ability to appropriately prioritize and manage workload in a remote environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing IT projects in an outsourced development environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience as a DBA in a complex, large-scale enterprise environment.
- Expertise in Oracle 11g/12c/19c+ and SQL Server 2012/2016/2019+ installation, configuration, and administration.
- In-depth knowledge of database architecture, performance tuning, and high availability solutions.
- Strong understanding of backup and recovery tools and methodologies (RMAN, Data Guard, Commvault, ZDLRA).
- Proven experience with security best practices: role-based access, encryption, auditing, and vulnerability management.
- Exceptional troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve complex technical issues independently.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to explain technical topics to diverse audiences.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a hybrid/remote work environment.
- Experience with cloud-based databases, especially AWS RDS or EC2-hosted instances is preferred.
- Hands-on experience migrating on-premises databases to the cloud.
