Job OverviewThe Technical Writer will play a critical role in developing, standardizing, and maintaining high-quality documentation to support team communication, training, projects, and process optimization. This position requires a strong focus on writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), implementing and maintaining documentation standards such as ISO-9001, and ensuring exceptional clarity and organization in all written materials. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in English, detail-oriented, and adept at driving documentation excellence in a fast-paced environment.
Work hours: 2:30 PM - 11:30 PM IST (to ensure overlap with US counterparts) or 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM IST
Location: Fully remote; a home office with strong Wi-Fi is required.
How You Will Make an Impact- SOP Development: Lead the creation, revision, and maintenance of clear, comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support operational consistency and compliance.
- Standards Implementation: Implement and uphold documentation standards, including ISO-9001 or similar quality management frameworks, ensuring all materials meet regulatory and organizational requirements.
- Knowledge Base Management: Audit current knowledge base systems, identify gaps, and provide strategic recommendations for improvements and standardization.
- Content Creation: Write concise, accurate documentation including processes, best practices, communications, presentations, and training materials tailored to diverse audiences.
- Document Control: Organize and maintain a robust document library for the communications team, ensuring effective document control, versioning, and accessibility.
- Process Simplification: Translate complex processes and procedures into clear, understandable language, workflows, and step-by-step instructions.
- Project Participation: Engage in all phases of documentation development, from project planning through release, including writing, editing, and publishing content.
- Operational Efficiency: Identify and communicate opportunities for process improvement while documenting content, collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs) and managers.
- Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with various teams to ensure documentation meets its intended purpose, is delivered on schedule, and aligns with organizational standards.
- File Management: Lead or assist with initiatives related to document retention, file naming conventions, and file storage best practices.
- Audience Adaptation: Tailor content to fit the needs of different audiences, applying context and best practices for each content type.
What You Will Need to Succeed- Education: Bachelor's degree required.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Technical Writer, Content Specialist, or similar role, with a proven track record of writing SOPs and implementing documentation standards.
- Language Skills: Exceptional command of written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
- Organizational Skills: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Document Management: Experience with document control systems, file management, and versioning best practices.
- Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with ISO-9001 or other quality management/documentation standards.
- Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Creative/Design Skills: Experience with creative or graphic design tools (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Quark).
- Editorial Skills: Editorial, copywriting, and/or analytics experience.
- Preferred: Experience with Tableau or similar data visualization tools is a plus.
