Overview
A government agency is seeking a highly skilled Acquia/Drupal Software Administrator to provide technical leadership, hands-on development, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of its Acquia/Drupal-based Content Management System (CMS).
This mission-critical role supports a large-scale, production-level public website. The consultant will collaborate closely with agency leadership, business analysts, developers, and accessibility stakeholders to ensure the CMS remains secure, stable, ADA-compliant, scalable, and user-friendly.
This position is being procured under discretionary purchasing authority and requires the candidate to be provided through a certified MWBE or SDVOB firm.
Key Responsibilities
Acquia/Drupal CMS Administration & Development
Configure and administer the Acquia/Drupal tenant, including data, display, site structure, and information architecture.
Deliver complete web solutions including front-end UI/UX and back-end module development.
Select, build, and implement custom Drupal modules as needed.
Maintain and enhance a responsive, ADA-compliant public-facing website.
Technical Leadership
Act as the primary technical subject-matter expert for the Acquia/Drupal CMS.
Translate business and functional requirements into technical specifications.
Review and approve design documents and enforce coding standards and CMS best practices.
Conduct code reviews and provide corrective recommendations.
Provide on-the-job training in PHP, Drupal, CMS concepts, and development best practices.
Project & Team Collaboration
Work directly with project leads, analysts, and internal/external stakeholders.
Assign tasks to team members and guide implementation efforts.
Participate in solution design, technical documentation, and architecture decisions.
Provide ongoing knowledge transfer and operational CMS support.
Maintenance, Support & Upgrades
Deliver production support, diagnosing and resolving issues in real time.
Evaluate and implement new features, security patches, updates, and bug fixes.
Ensure the CMS aligns with evolving business processes and technical standards.
Provide post-implementation and continuous release support.
Documentation
Create and maintain detailed documentation, including configuration guides, technical requirements, design specifications, and operational procedures.
Minimum Qualifications (Required)
Candidates must meet all of the following:
3+ years PHP coding and testing experience
3+ years HTML coding and testing experience
3+ years JavaScript coding and testing experience
3+ years configuring and managing Acquia/Drupal CMS environments
3+ years gathering, documenting, and managing functional/technical requirements
2+ years coding with responsive design
Preferred Qualifications
Experience exceeding the minimum requirements
Acquia Certified Developer Drupal 9 or above
Experience coding with HTML5, Bootstrap, and Twig
Experience developing ADA-compliant web pages
Experience working with SQL
