Job Title: Junior System Administrator
Reports To: Director of Technology
Primary Location: Chicago, IL (with support across Kansas City, St. Louis, and other markets as needed)
Position Summary
CIMA Consulting Group is seeking a proactive and technically skilled Junior System Administrator to support and maintain IT infrastructure across multiple markets. This role is designed for an early-career technician who is ready to expand their skills in systems administration while supporting day-to-day operations, managing IT assets, and assisting with infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate has foundational experience in IT support, a desire to grow into advanced system administration, and the flexibility to travel for regional support needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on technical support to end users through Helpdesk and on-site assistance
- Assist with IT asset lifecycle management, including procurement, configuration, maintenance, and decommissioning
- Build and deploy desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals
- Support administration of Windows servers, Active Directory, and Exchange Online environments
- Assist with user account provisioning, group policy updates, email setups, and license management
- Apply software patches, system updates, and perform basic hardware upgrades
- Travel to remote offices (Kansas City, St. Louis, others) for rollouts, troubleshooting, and IT installations
- Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, assets, and support procedures
- Collaborate with vendors for warranty claims, hardware deliveries, and technical escalations
- Participate in infrastructure improvements and IT projects under senior team guidance
- Ensure all IT equipment and practices comply with company security standards and policies
- Provide technical support during new hire onboarding sessions
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 1 3 years of experience in IT support, desktop support, or junior system administration
- High school diploma required; associate degree or coursework in IT-related field preferred
- Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange Online, and desktop imaging tools
- Understanding of basic networking, IP addressing, and cybersecurity principles
- Experience supporting multi-site environments is a plus
- Industry certifications preferred: CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft 365
- Willingness to travel between markets with a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
- Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to lift and install IT equipment up to 50 lbs
