Job Details

We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Alias Digital Modeler to join a forward-thinking automotive design team that is accelerating its transition from traditional physical modeling to fully digital workflows. This role plays a key part in bridging conceptual design with production-ready digital surfaces, supporting both interior and exterior automotive development.

As part of a collaborative studio environment and fast-paced environment, you will work closely with designers, engineers, and senior stakeholders to convert early design concepts often created in tools like Blender into refined, high-quality Class-A level surfaces using Alias. You ll have the opportunity to contribute to concept and production vehicle programs at various stages of development. We re looking for candidates who are not only technically strong but also creative, fast, and able to deliver clean, effective data with attention to quality and form.

Please note this position requires a 5-days onsite requirement.

Key Responsibilities:
Translate rough concept data (including Blender polygonal models) into high-quality Alias surfaces for both exterior and interior vehicle components.
Generate production-level 3D surfaces that are clean, accurate, and manufacturable.
Collaborate directly with designers, engineers, and stakeholders to refine models and implement design changes efficiently.
Work proactively with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues and optimize surfaces for performance and appearance.
Clearly and effectively communicate design decisions, modeling feedback, and technical rationale to both peers and leadership.
Maintain project timelines and deliverables in a fast-paced, iterative development environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
Open to All Experience Levels, from 2+ years and above: We welcome applicants of varying levels of experience from junior modelers with strong technical skills and a hunger to grow, to seasoned professionals who bring deep industry expertise.
Strong technical experience in Alias NURBS.
Proficiency in Autodesk Alias for Class-A or advanced surfacing.
Familiarity with VRED (Maya is optional).
Experience working on both interior and exterior components.
Familiarity in Sub-D.
Exposure to real-time rendering tools or knowledge of visualization workflows.
Strong understanding of surface creation, surfacing principles, and how surfaces translate to production, especially in the automotive industry.
Ability to clean and refine surfaces from initial design data (e.g., polygonal models from Blender).
Solid grasp of automotive design standards, including proportions, form language, manufacturing feasibility, etc.
Strong collaboration and communication skills as you must be able to articulate technical decisions and creative ideas clearly.
Ability to adapt quickly, work independently, and deliver high-quality work in a deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in digital design workflows within an OEM or automotive design studio.
Technical Skillset and hands-on experience with Blender.

Type: Contract (12 months to start with possibility of 12-month extension)
Location: Torrance, CA
Schedule: 5 days onsite required
Pay Range: $40/hr-$85/hr (DOE)
