Job Description:

Apex Systems is seeking a motivated "Network Engineer" with ADNS (Automated Digital Network Systems) experience to support the PMW-160 Tactical Networks In-Service Engineering Activity (TACNET ISEA). This is a fulltime position working out of our San Diego, California office or Virginia Beach location.

The ADNS Network Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for U.S. Navy Network Management Systems utilizing Linux servers, VMware, and routers and switches.

You will provide support and expertise for Navy networks and associated systems during installation on-board U.S. Navy vessels and in a post-installation environment including remote support and troubleshooting.

You Will:
  • Assist in and lead ADNS software installations, network configurations, and upgrades aboard U.S. Navy vessels.
  • Provide distance support of ADNS and networks installed aboard U.S. Navy vessels. This support will include tier II/III remote support and troubleshooting to operational units worldwide.
  • Provide on-site technical assistance to operational units worldwide.
  • Research issues using available resources and advise customers on appropriate actions.
  • Provide support and integration expertise for U.S. Navy ADNS systems and associated hardware during installations on-board Navy vessels.
  • Provide support documentation and attend briefings/meetings.
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 30%.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related taskings as needed.

You Have:
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Possession of and the ability to maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Level Security Clearance. (TS/SCI preferred)
  • Minimum 4 years' experience maintaining and operating U.S. Navy or USCG ADNS (Automated Digital Network System
  • Experience in TCP/IP and common protocols such as FTP, SSH SMTP, DNS, SNMP, and NTP.
  • Experience in routing and switching (Cisco preferred).
  • Experienced in system administration (Linux preferred).
  • A strong ability to troubleshoot.
  • The ability to multi-task and balance multiple goals and priorities.
  • Self-motivation, strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
  • A passion for learning.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • A current U.S. Passport or ability to obtain one within 45 days of employment.
  • A CompTIA Security+ CE Certification.
  • Possession of and the ability to maintain an approved DoD IAT Level II Operating Environment certification. Cisco CCNA or CCNP certification is preferred.

Wed Be Impressed If You Had Experience with:
  • Experience with one or more of the following systems (desired):
    • US Navy Pier Communications systems and architecture
    • US Navy SHF and EHF SATCOM systems
    • EBEM Modems
  • Consolidated Afloat Network Enterprise System (CANES) networks.
  • Secret Releasable (SR) / Combined Enterprise Regional Information Exchange System (CENTRIXS) networks.
  • TS/SCI networks.
  • Integrated Shipboard Network Systems (ISNS) (ORT-Operation Rolling Tide).
  • VMware ESX/i and vSphere.
  • Remedy or other helpdesk ticketing system.

Education/Experience:
  • Five (5) years of technical experience in Network Administration and/or Network Engineering that clearly demonstrates a strong working knowledge of routing and switching in a distributed environment; and working knowledge and experience with virtualization.
