POSITION: PROJECT MANAGER/PROJECT COORDINATOR
LOCATION: SCHAUMBURG ILLINOIS AREA
TYPE: FULL TIME/ IN OFFICE
Our direct client, an industrial equipment company who has been in business for 40 years, is looking to hire a Project Manager/Project Coordinator. This role is ideal for someone passionate about engineering and project management, with the ability to see the big picture and handle the details that drive successful project results.
This position will oversee the successful planning, execution, and completion of engineering projects from concept through completion. The position will work closely with engineering, product development, operations, logistics, and cross-functional teams to ensure projects meet time, quality, and budgets.
This role requires strong technical knowledge, project management expertise, and excellent communication skills to lead and motivate cross-functional teams and manage our customers expectations effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Execution: Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of multiple engineering projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, and budgets.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with design, product, and operations teams to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables. Communicate technical requirements and constraints effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Resource Management: Allocate and manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, and budget. Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure smooth project execution.
- Technical Oversight: Provide technical insight and guidance to engineering teams to address project challenges and ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Risk and Issue Management: Identify, assess, and resolve project risks and issues proactively. Develop contingency plans and prioritize corrective actions when needed.
- Timeline and Budget Management: Track and manage project timelines and budget allocations, reporting progress, status updates, and project risks to leadership.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain project documentation, including schedules, technical requirements, and status reports, ensuring alignment with organizational standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive process improvements, incorporate lessons learned from previous projects, and refine project management practices.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field
- Experience: 5+ years experience in project management in engineering or technical environments. Proven track record delivering engineering projects on time and within budget.
- Project Management Skills: Certification in PMP, CAPM preferred. Proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project or similar software.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices. Background in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, logistics, and program engineering is preferred.
- Leadership Abilities: Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams.
- Communication: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and understand electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical drawings required.
- Experience with agile and/or lean project management methodologies.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements relevant to the industry (OHSA, ISO, FDA, etc.)
