Job Description

Architect - Supply Chain Logistics will be responsible for understanding business and manufacturing needs to define technical architecture solutions that modernize Ford Supply Chain Logistics.

The role includes identifying key portfolio capabilities, global system strategies, buy-vs-build decisions, vendor evaluations, modernizing Ford in-house build applications to Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), and close collaboration as a member of one or more product teams.

Responsibilities

Architect - Supply Chain Logistics, requires emersion and hands-on evaluation of current Logistics operations to deep dive customer centric design including remote users, plant / shipping personnel, and logistics carriers / vendors. This domain knowledge will lead to solution design with technical expertise in Google Cloud, Kubernetes/Serverless hosting, Cloud SQL & NoSQL Databases, vendor Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and vendor SaaS solutions.

This role will define, analyze, assemble, and integrate components to deliver the Transportation Management System (TMS) for Supply Chain Logistics, including consideration for platform(s), user experience, software, cost, availability, scalability, and reliability.

Partner with Material and Vehicle Logistics (MVL), Business Leads, Software Delivery Leads, Product Managers, and Software Engineers in system design, technology evaluation, and guide teams in creating, defining, and delivering well design systems and capabilities. Provide support such as troubleshooting application functional, performance, and availability issues, and participate in vendor solution evaluation processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Three or more years of experience as solution architect and/or software engineer.

Preferred qualification

Experience with Ford and/or Industry Supply Chain Logistics systems.

Previous experience as software developer/engineer.

Previous experience with Transportation Management System(s). Including, but not limited to, Blue Yonder, Oracle TM, SAP TMS, e2open TM, Manhattan TM.

Strong architecture knowledge with experience in providing technical solutions for cloud infrastructure. Google Cloud Platform experience is a plus.

Self-starter, ability to work independently.

Self-researcher, ability to research a technology and provide insight to product team.

Experience with microservice architecture, REST APIs, Event-Driven Messaging patterns, and distributed cloud systems.

Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and hands-on application experience. Understand how to architect highly available, performant, scalable, global solutions.

Knowledge of Ford and Industry technology standards and security frameworks / tools.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Previous experience with multi-team, large-scale projects and incorporating all levels of architecture development (Business, Solution, Application, Infrastructure).

Experience migrating apps to cloud solutions is a plus.

Good understanding of Agile development methodologies.

Negotiation skills and ability to work with a diverse set of stakeholders and customers.
