Position Summary
DRS Network & Imaging Systems in Cypress, CA is part of the Electro-Optical and Infrared Systems Group of Leonardo DRS and has over 30 years of experience in designing and developing electro-optical/infrared systems. We are seeking a Senior Technical Intern to join the company to support engineering staff by performing research, design support, documentation, engineering calculations, testing and verification, and other related tasks as skills allow. They will work closely with and assist engineers in the conduct of various engineering assignments. The candidate must be a well-organized self-starter, able to work in a team environment, have good communication and technical skills, and able to professionally interact with others.

The expected pay scale for this position is $21.44/hour - $30.65/hour. Should the level, location, or scope of the position change during the hiring process, the pay scale may be modified accordingly. Basic Qualifications and Required Skills
- Pursuing undergraduate or Master's in Physics or an Engineering curriculum, 3rd Year status minimum
- Must be enrolled in an accredited university and maintain a 3.3 or higher GPA
- Be available to work part-time (<30 hours per week) starting Summer through Fall 2025
- U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems
Additional Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge of basic electrical circuit design
- Basic knowledge of semiconductor processes
- Basic test lab skills - Oscilloscope/DVM/Logic Analyzer/Power Supplies
- Excellent attention to detail
- Must be diligent, hardworking, and quick to learn
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Software
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Laboratory functional test of new Readout ICs
- Laboratory characterization of Readout ICs and Focal Plane Arrays (FPAs)
- Data analysis and report generation
- Documentation of design, verification and testing
- Conduct limited scope IC design support under the supervision of engineers
- Conduct limited scope testing under the supervision of engineers
- Work with data analysis software using macros to load raw test data into spreadsheets for performance analysis
- Work with vacuum systems and cryogenic cooling
- Conduct design analysis and/or calculations under the supervision of engineers
- Perform a wide variety of tasks to gain familiarity with the engineering staff, methods, programs, and practices
- Complete assigned tasks on time
- Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization
