Job Description

ECS is seeking a Communications Specialist to work remotely .

ECS is seeking a highly skilled Communications Specialist in developing and implementing effective communication strategies to promote and advance the division's goals and objectives. The successful candidate will provide technical subject matter expertise, synthesize feedback from working groups, and develop strategic messaging materials to support stakeholder engagement efforts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support Working Groups: Provide technical subject matter expertise to support CSD working groups in discussing potential Board of Directors (BOD) topics, synthesizing feedback, and developing actionable themes and content for inclusion in draft BODs.
  • Feedback Synthesis: Analyze and synthesize feedback from working group discussions into actionable themes and content for inclusion in draft BODs, ensuring that key recommendations and insights are captured and reflected in the final product.
  • Meeting Notes and Record Keeping: Maintain detailed notes of working group activities and outcomes, including meeting minutes, action items, and decision points.
  • Strategic Feedback and Assistance: Provide strategic feedback and assistance with external stakeholder communications to socialize BODs and the BOD queue, ensuring that key messages are effectively communicated to relevant stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Support strategic engagements with groups such as the Cybersecurity Executive Working Group (CEWG) and the Chief Information Security Officer Council (CISO-C), developing and implementing effective communication strategies to advance the division's goals and objectives.
  • Message Development: Develop strategic messaging materials, including talking points, briefing slides, and other communication tools, to support stakeholder engagement efforts.

  • Salary Range: $110,000 - $120,000

    Required Skills

    • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Policy, or a related field.
    • 3+ years of experience in communications, public policy, or a related field.
    • Strong understanding of cybersecurity and information security principles.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to analyze complex information and synthesize feedback into actionable themes and content.
    • Strong project management and organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
    • Experience with stakeholder engagement and communication strategies.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.


    Desired Skills

    • Master's degree in Communications, Public Policy, or a related field.
    • Experience working in a government or public sector organization.
    • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks, regulations, and standards (e.g., NIST, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
    • Experience with stakeholder engagement and communication tools (e.g., social media, email marketing, presentation software).
