Title: Product Review Engineer
Location: Portland, OR
Duration: 12+Months
Overview: We are seeking experienced and proactive Senior Liaison Engineers to join our team in Portland, Oregon. This hands-on role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced production environment and are eager to bridge the gap between engineering design and factory execution. As the engineering representative on the factory floor, you will collaborate closely with production teams to resolve technical issues, implement design solutions, and ensure product integrity throughout the build process.
Key Responsibilities:
Factory Environment: This role requires daily presence on the factory floor, including exposure to stairs, trip hazards, high noise levels, chemical handling, and aircraft interiors at various build stages.

Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate and resolve production non-conformances through root cause analysis and engineering dispositions
- Apply design principles to address product and process issues across the lifecycle
- Research and resolve technical, operational, and quality concerns to support final engineering solutions
- Document and communicate deviations that may impact design intent or safety; manage resolution strategies
- Develop and implement product and process improvements to enhance manufacturing efficiency
- Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and design reviews
- Represent engineering throughout production and post-production phases
- Ensure compliance with standards across suppliers and build partners
- Prepare customer correspondence to support safe operation and maintenance of equipment
- Support on-site repair teams, accident investigations, and field service efforts
- Analyze structural damage or modifications to determine safe repair procedures
- Design interim structural repairs and perform static strength analysis
- Develop non-destructive testing procedures, tools, and standards

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited or equivalent program
- 10+ years of experience in structures, systems, design, or production engineering
- 5+ years of prior experience with Engineering Material Review Board (MRB) processes
Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with experience in the following areas will be highly valued:
Materials Knowledge
- Properties and capabilities of steel, aluminum, titanium
- Forms such as bar stock, forgings, castings, and machining reactions
Machining Expertise
- Sequencing, cutter speeds/feeds, and multi-pass strategies
- Practices including broaching, honing, and load path analysis
- Surface prep and damage assessment (burns, FOD, discoloration)
Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Interpretation of true position, parallel surfaces, bonus tolerances
- Drawing datums and profile tolerancing for gear/shaft fit-ups
- Use of Spatial Analyzer and metrology tools
Gear and Shaft Systems
- Gear tables, spline profiles, runout, and engagement patterns
- Installation and bearing fit considerations
Material Processing
- Heat treatment, stress relief, induction hardening
- Surface finishing including peening, plating, anodizing, and painting
Functional Testing
- Diagnosing performance impacts at the aircraft level
- Acceptance criteria including RPM, torque, and clearance
Repair Techniques
- Use of bushings, heli-coils, and inserts
- Blending, refinishing, and corrosion protection post-rework
