Overview

Our direct client, a government agency, is seeking a Junior IT Operations Support Specialist for a long-term hybrid contract position based in Washington, DC. This role supports day-to-day IT operations across mainframe and server environments, focusing on monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting software migration processes.

Ideal candidates will have 2+ years of experience in IT operations, configuration management, and SQL tools. The position offers an excellent opportunity for junior-level professionals to build enterprise-level experience in a regulated and fast-paced environment. The role may require
weekend or shift work to support production systems.

Skills

Required Experience of Two (2) years in the following:

Configuration Management (CM) for software updates and migrations of code;
Software Migration process;
Startup of Production Applications & Systems;
Microsoft SQL Management Studio & Oracle SQL Developer;

Preferred Experience - 2 years minimum:

Support Web and Client Server Application
Microsoft Office Application Suite (Word & Excel)
Computer applications capabilities and limitations of computer equipment.

Responsibilities

The IT Operations Support Specialist shall:
Provide technical assistance in all aspects of data processing operations.
Work with mainframe and Server applications.
Understands technical experience in the utilization and implementation of tools to monitor the server and mainframe applications.
Understands knowledge on how to identify, investigate and troubleshoot error conditions to help remediate system failure conditions.
Understand Configuration Management (CM) for software updates and migrations of code.
This position may require weekend and or shift work hours

Qualifications

Associate s or Bachelor s Degree in Information Technology or related field preferred
Relevant training or certifications in IT operations or system support a plus
