Job Title: Junior LAN Administrator (Onsite)

Job Summary:

The Junior LAN Administrator provides day-to-day technical support for the organization s local area network (LAN) and connected systems. This role focuses on the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network hardware, end-user devices, and software in compliance with organizational standards. The Junior LAN Administrator assists senior IT staff in monitoring network performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring system reliability and security. This position requires strong hands-on troubleshooting skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to providing responsive, quality technical support.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain LAN equipment including switches, routers, firewalls, printers, and other network-connected devices.
  • Provide in-person and remote help desk support to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues for end-users.
  • Assist with the deployment, setup, and configuration of desktops, laptops, and peripheral equipment according to IT standards.
  • Support remote sites and satellite offices, traveling onsite as needed to provide technical assistance.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network connectivity and performance issues, escalating complex problems to senior staff as required.
  • Assist with user account creation, permission assignments, and identity management in Active Directory and other systems per IT policies.
  • Document configurations, troubleshooting steps, and technical processes for knowledge sharing within the IT team.
  • Support the installation and maintenance of Windows-based systems and related applications.
  • Perform basic network cable installation and connectivity testing.
  • Maintain an inventory of IT assets, ensuring accurate records of equipment deployment and usage.
  • Follow established security protocols to protect network resources and sensitive information.
  • Provide support for system updates, patches, and routine maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate with senior administrators and other IT staff to support enterprise IT initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Associate s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; OR equivalent technical school certification or military training in IT/networking.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a computer-related field.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience with installation, operation, and maintenance of Windows infrastructure and connected devices.
  • Basic understanding of LAN/WAN networking concepts, TCP/IP, and common networking protocols.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory user management and Windows Server environments.
  • Experience using remote support tools for troubleshooting and diagnostics.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with end-users and technical staff.
  • Ability to travel between local sites as required.
