THE ROLE:
The Platform Debug team in the Server Platform Solution Engineering Group team is looking for a DFX Validation and Platform debugger to accelerate debug throughput and drive innovation in the debug space in AMD flag products. The scope includes hands-on work with cutting edge server hardware and software technologies in a challenging environment leading up to platform launch. In this role you will work with design, architecture, validation and manufacturing engineering teams to drive debug features to meet customer quality expectations. You will contribute to the development of AMD's internal data center debug infrastructure.
THE PERSON:
As a Leader in Platform Debug Engineering, you will drive balanced, scalable, debug solutions to improve debug throughput. In this high visibility position, your strong understanding of SoC/Platform debug feature validation and understanding of SW tools will be necessary towards improving debug methodologies to solve complex debug challenges

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement Design for Debug (DFX) strategies, including test planning and execution for Debug features, to enhance the testability and diagnosability of SoCs.
- Continuously improve debug capabilities and methodologies by identifying recurring challenges and collaborating with partner teams to innovate in silicon architecture, design, tools, and processes.
- Partner with DFX architects, design teams, and software tools groups to provide feedback on new debug features, ensuring alignment with server debug platform requirements for effective throughput.
- Debug of issues with platform debug features such as JTAG, tracing/debug hardware, and Server BMC issues; perform root cause analysis across logical, performance, firmware, and BIOS domains.
- Driving technical innovation to improve AMD's debug capabilities across validation, including tool and script development, technical and procedural methodology enhancement, and various internal and cross-functional technical initiatives
- Manage and track technical risks, issues, and priorities, while maintaining clear communication with customers and management regarding program status and opportunities.
- Working with multiple teams, and tracking test execution to make sure all features are validated and optimized on time
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- 10+ years of experience in SoC validation, covering design, DFX architecture, pre-silicon, and/or post-silicon validation.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Ruby, Perl, or Python for developing tests to validate debug features.
- Demonstrated expertise in test plan creation, debugging SW tools and pre-silicon emulation. Knowledge of system architecture, technical debug, and validation strategy.
- Strong understanding of platform hardware, board/platform-level debug, operating systems and system BIOS interactions.
- Experience with common lab equipment, including protocol/logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.
- Extensive experience with board/platform-level debug, including sequencing, analysis, and supporting debug of issues related to debug features/capabilities
- Strong analytical/problem-solving skills, effective communication abilities and attention to details.
- Self-motivated with the ability to drive debug feature convergence and ensure high-quality silicon delivery through validation and tool readiness for silicon bring-up.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with Platform Server BMC and x86-based architecture.
- Proven track record in defining and developing debug tools tailored for silicon validation.
- Strong SoC debug skills, including leading critical issue resolution through cross-functional collaboration to meet program milestones.
- Knowledge of hardware validation and test automation.

- Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical or computer engineering
