Job Details
The Data Center Program Manager will lead complex, enterprise-scale infrastructure transformation programs, focusing on data center buildouts, migrations, and modernization initiatives. This highly visible role involves end-to-end program ownership, strategic planning, risk mitigation, stakeholder coordination, and vendor management to ensure seamless execution and alignment with business and compliance goals.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in data center infrastructure, hybrid/cloud environments, and program governance in regulated industries like healthcare or insurance.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Execution
Own and manage full lifecycle of large-scale data center programs (e.g., buildouts, migrations, consolidations, hardware refreshes).
Provide end-to-end oversight across planning, scheduling, resource management, and execution.
Lead cross-functional workstreams involving infrastructure, networking, applications, security, and compliance teams.
Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination
Act as primary liaison across business units, internal project managers, engineering teams, and external vendors (e.g., colocation providers, OEMs, network carriers).
Translate business and technical requirements into actionable plans and ensure cross-workstream alignment.
Drive successful delivery of vendor SOWs and ensure accountability through a clearly defined RACI matrix.
Governance & Reporting
Implement robust governance practices including status reporting, KPI tracking, change control, and risk management.
Deliver clear, concise executive updates and ensure program alignment with enterprise strategic objectives.
Oversee budget forecasts, vendor procurement, and contractual deliverables.
Infrastructure Oversight
Direct new data center buildouts, including facilities, compute, network, and storage infrastructure.
Guide the migration from VMware to Nutanix with minimal service disruption and adherence to enterprise architecture and security standards.
Lead phased decommissioning of legacy data centers and transition of workloads to new environments (on-prem, cloud, or hybrid).
Compliance & Resilience
Ensure all infrastructure initiatives comply with healthcare industry regulations (HIPAA, HITECH) and security frameworks (NIST, ITIL).
Partner with Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity teams to maintain readiness and resilience.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of experience managing large-scale IT programs, with a strong focus on data center or infrastructure transformation.
Proven experience overseeing complex programs with multiple interdependencies.
Strong background in hybrid data center environments, cloud services (Azure, AWS), and enterprise architecture.
Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, and ServiceNow.
Excellent leadership, communication, budgeting, and reporting skills.
Strongly Preferred Certifications & Experience
PMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification (strongly preferred)
Familiarity with ITIL, Agile, or hybrid delivery frameworks
Experience with vendors such as Nutanix, VMware, Cisco
Prior work in healthcare, insurance, or other highly regulated environments
Knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, NIST, and disaster recovery best practices
