Primary Talent Partners has a new contract opening for a Product Owner III with our large power and utilities client in Charlotte, NC. This is a 12-month contract with a potential for extension.

Pay: $62.00 - $72.00/hr; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment.

Schedule: Hybrid

Description:
There is a major drive at Duke to migrate our on-premise databases to cloud architecture to enable advanced analytics & AI use cases; our team works closely with business leaders to understand customer data initiatives, and collaborates with IT delivery teams to prioritize workload to meet business needs. We re searching for a highly qualified product owner to help us manage this innovation workload. The ideal candidate will have experience and strong skills in work-plan development and progress tracking. The ideal candidate for this role is action-oriented, self-motivated, and an excellent communicator.

The successful candidate will have the following qualities:

  • Intellectually curious and creative, eager to generate ideas to solve business problems
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills and ability to multitask with minimal oversight
  • Capable of building, developing and maintaining positive working relationships with executives, key clients and subject matter experts while working in a team environment.

The successful candidate will have the following skillset:

  • Five or more years of experience in product ownership
  • Experience in coordinating technical teams
  • Proven success in a corporate setting, working with all levels of management
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills

Responsibilities:

  • Defines and manages product roadmap
  • Build, groom and prioritize the product backlog, continuously managing expectations with relevant stakeholders - including the senior leadership team and business sponsors
  • Working independently with minimal supervision
  • Develop a deep contextual understanding of our customer, worker and user needs
  • Write detailed functional specifications, user stories and product documentation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams of developers, designers and analysts to implement and deliver new products and features
  • Collaborate with the organization on vision, strategy, decisioning, tactical execution, and measurement systems
  • Communicate roadmap stages and timelines internally with key stakeholders and sponsors
  • Assist in managing change for impacted stakeholders
  • Ensure that all aspects of a project are organized and in conformance with timeline and deliverables requirement
  • Develop and maintain performance methodology that tracks overall progress and achievement of milestones
  • Ensuring team members have the resources they need to complete their assigned tasks on time and within their budget limits
  • Report risks and outcomes to appropriate management channels, and escalate issues according to project work plan

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree (or equivalent) in relevant field
  • Five or more years of experience in product ownership

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Experience with delivering technical product
  • Experience reading/interpreting BI Reports/Dashboards
  • Experience building BI Reporting Dashboards
  • Previous SQL experience
  • Previous experience using cloud data warehouses (e.g., Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, Google BigQuery)
  • Previous experience using stream processing platforms (e.g., Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, Apache Flink, AWS Kinesis)
  • Previous experience using an object-oriented programming language (e.g. Python, JavaScript, CSS)
  • Previous experience using statistical programming languages (e.g., SAS, R, sci-py)
