Groton COLUMBIA Construction Support Engineering is seeking highly motivated electrical engineers. This is a unique opportunity to support final assembly, test, certification, and delivery of the first of class SSBN 826 COLUMBIA, the Nation's #1 defense priority, on the front lines of engineering. This once in a career opportunity will be challenging and rewarding as the COLUMBIA Waterfront team supports the Groton Shipyard to get boats down river. In this role, engineers will provide comprehensive technical oversight of construction activities and will interface with Design and Engineering, Ship's Management, Planning, Operations, Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP), and PMS397 to act as the primary engineering interface for the Groton shipyard as the COLUMBIA Waterfront engineering organization grows.

Responsibilities will include the following:
  • Provide engineering oversight and assist electrical trade personnel to overcome emergent shipyard issues that arise during construction
  • Interpret design, drawing, and technical specification requirements
  • Provide engineering evaluation and/or direction to Groton trades via dispositions of Change Notices and TIR UNSATs
  • Provide surveillance of manufacturing, inspection, and testing of material
  • Conduct engineering evaluations to support all manufacturing and construction needs
  • Facilitate the implementation of design and process improvements
  • Coordinate engagement of design and engineering SMEs in the construction sequence

This position is for full time work at the Groton shipyard facility.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Minimum 4 Years Engineering Experience
  • Bachelor of Science or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Ability to obtain a DOD Secret security clearance or higher

Preferred:
  • Knowledge of COLUMBIA Class Design
  • Familiarity with Teamcenter and Electronic Desktop
  • Experience in Waterfront Engineering
