We are looking for a Palo Alto Firewall Engineer - Remote / Telecommute for our client in Evanston, IL

Job Description:
Pay Range: $47hr - $52hr

Requirement/Must Have:

  • Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Strong understanding of security policies, NAT rules, threat prevention, and hardening standards.
  • Experience managing Palo Alto SD-WAN environments.
  • Familiarity with Panorama templates, device groups, and centralized policy management.
  • Knowledge of CIS hardening guidelines and organizational security standards.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Experience:
  • Experience supporting multi-site firewall deployments.
  • Experience conducting audits, responding to security incidents, and performing root cause analysis.
Responsibilities:
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain Palo Alto firewalls across multiple sites.
  • Implement advanced security policies, NAT rules, and threat prevention profiles.
  • Perform firmware updates and ensure compliance with hardening standards.
  • Manage Palo Alto SD-WAN endpoints and maintain full-mesh connectivity.
  • Configure routing rules, link tags, and interface profiles.
  • Monitor SD-WAN performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Use Panorama for centralized management, including templates, stacks, and device groups.
  • Apply consistent security policies across all deployment locations.
  • Perform backups, health monitoring, and log management.
  • Conduct audits of firewall and SD-WAN configurations.
  • Respond to security incidents and support root cause analysis.
  • Maintain documentation of configurations, architecture, and change processes.
  • Generate reports on network performance, security posture, and compliance.
Should Have:
  • Strong understanding of network routing, VPNs, and traffic flow optimization.
Skills:
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Qualification and Education:
  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • Relevant security or network certifications are a plus (e.g., PCNSE, CCNP Security).
