Description
We are looking for an experienced Cable Technician to join our team in Ames, Iowa. This role involves working in commercial environments to install, troubleshoot, and maintain various cabling systems. This is a Contract-to-permanent position, offering an excellent opportunity to grow your career in the high-tech engineering industry.
Responsibilities:
Install and route CAT5 and CAT6 cabling in both new construction and remodels within commercial settings.
Interpret and adhere to industry standards, including those related to cabling and networking.
Perform conduit installation and bending, as well as utilize digital multi-meters for testing cable connections.
Diagnose and resolve networking issues efficiently to ensure optimal system performance.
Assemble server racks, patch panels, and other related equipment in network closets.
Handle fiber optic tasks such as anaerobic terminations, SC and LC connector installations, and splicing.
Read and analyze schematic and line diagrams to ensure accurate installation and troubleshooting.
Conduct rack and stack work to organize and maintain server systems.
Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards during all installations and repairs.
Requirements
Minimum of 1 year of experience working in commercial environments as a Cable Technician.
Valid driver's license is required.
Proficiency in installing and troubleshooting broadband, networking, and cabling systems.
Familiarity with fiber optic processes, including splicing and connector terminations.
Ability to work with patch panels, coax cables, and digital multi-meters.
Knowledge of industry standards and ability to interpret technical diagrams.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in fast-paced environments.
