Job Details
Job Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Mainframe MQ System Administrator to join our Technology Services Group. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in IBM MQ on z/OS, strong troubleshooting skills, and a proactive approach to managing infrastructure and supporting application teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provision and support MQ infrastructure on mainframe z/OS and distributed platforms
- Configure and maintain Queue Sharing Groups, MQ clusters, channel authentication, and TLS certificates
- Collaborate with application teams to design optimal MQ solutions
- Manage MQ-related alerts, incidents, and participate in change management and DR events
- Understand mainframe dependencies including IPL, capacity planning, and CICS logs
- Contribute to MQ upgrade processes and security exit configurations
- Demonstrate ownership and accountability in all deliverables
Required Skills & Experience:
- 8+ years of infrastructure experience
- 8+ years of MQ administration in z/OS environment
- Strong knowledge of:
- MQ Queue Sharing Groups
- MQ clusters with mainframe QManager members
- Channel authentication in z/OS
- TLS certificate management
- MQ DR processes and stream queues
- Basic understanding of security exits
- Experience with change management and incident response
- Ability to multitask and deliver under pressure
- Proficiency in CICS log troubleshooting
Preferred Skills:
- Basic programming experience in COBOL
- MQ application programming knowledge in z/OS (C, COBOL, or Java)
- Experience in financial services or securities industry
- Familiarity with MQ upgrade processes in z/OS
