Fastly seeks a Senior Director of Product Management - Observability to join our team.

Fastly helps our customers deliver experiences that are safe and engaging. Our portfolio of observability products gives our customers real-time insights into the experiences they are delivering - in terms of performance and security. We are looking for a dynamic senior leader to drive the next phase of growth and innovation for this business. This role plays a critical cross-functional leadership role across the company in establishing the vision, strategy, and leading the execution of product development initiatives supporting the growth of the business.

Reporting to the Chief Product Officer (CPO), you'll ensure everyone in your organization has the skills, direction, and information needed to successfully lead cross-functional teams delivering business outcomes through product development activities.

What You'll Do
  • Team Development: The observability product management team is critical for defining and guiding the execution of Fastly's observability business. This requires a strong team that not only understands and adapts to the quickly evolving observability landscape but also excels at cross-functional leadership to orchestrate all of Fastly's capabilities to drive outcomes for our customers and Fastly. As the leader of this team, one of your most important responsibilities will be building and developing this team
  • Product Vision: you will work with the CPO, CEO, and other senior leaders to define and articulate a compelling yet achievable vision for observability products and services to capture the attention of the market and to align stakeholders toward a common direction
  • Product Strategy: you will work with the CPO, CEO, and other senior leaders to define and articulate a clear strategy to differentiate Fastly's observability portfolio vs. competitors and build sustainable competitive advantages. You and your team will develop and maintain clear roadmaps that make our strategy actionable
  • Lead Cross-Functional Execution: you and your team will lead execution cross-functionally to implement the strategy and deliver the roadmap. This will include setting priorities, partnering with key stakeholders, including Engineering, Revenue (Sales and Customer Service), Marketing, and others so everything comes together into an impactful product line in the marketplace
  • GTM Engagement:developing and launching products is just the beginning of the race. You and your team will work with Fastly's go-to-market teams to ensure market success, including supporting strategic customer deals.
  • Strategic Customer Engagement: Building and maintaining relationships with strategic customers to ensure account success and incorporation of customer insights into product strategies and plans
  • Learning/Continuous Improvement: a successful product can always be more. You and your team will work with Fastly's go-to-market teams, partners, and customers to understand deeply what is working and what is not, and strive to continuously improve our strategy and execution. You will foster a balanced culture where mistakes are seen as opportunities to learn, but there are appropriate levels of accountability to drive improvement and results

What We're Looking For
  • Significant experience leading product management teams, in the CDN, observability, and/or cloud (IaaS / PaaS) space
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a matrix environment; strong influence skills and ability to get things done with teams that report to you as well as teams across the company; Experience partnering and leading cross-functionally
  • Strong communication and executive presentation skills; experience working with senior management, both at your own company and customers/partners
  • Strong business strategy skills, ability to formulate robust, specific strategies and communicate them in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong business operational and financial skills; for example, the ability to contribute significantly to GTM operational reviews as well as R&D portfolio management
  • Strong technical depth in cloud, observability, and/or content delivery networks; strong knowledge of the observability, content delivery networks, and/or cloud industry
  • High emotional intelligence. Fastly teams care about one another, collaborate regularly and are part of a people-first organization

Work Hours:
  • This position will require you to be available during core business hours.

Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home.

Salary:

The estimated salary range for this position is $266,270 to $332,840.

Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly's equity and discretionary bonus programs.
