Our client, a leading broadcasting company, is hiring a Systems Administrator on a contract basis.

Summary of Responsibilities:
As a System Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining, configuring, and ensuring the reliable operation of computer systems within the broadcast content environment. In addition, you will adhere to standard operating procedures within IT Operations, including staff training and documentation.
Specifically, job duties include managing Windows servers & workstations, Linux servers, and the virtual environment and the backend hardware supporting our virtual infrastructures. Your primary goal is to guarantee system uptime, performance, resource allocation, and security align with the client's security standards.

1. Windows Server Management:
  • Build and manage servers running Windows Server 2012 through Windows Server 2022.
  • Integrate software products seamlessly into the server environment.
  • Understanding of using SCCM to manage computer objects in a domain.
  • Ability to create application packages using SCCM and deploy those applications to workstations.
  • Understanding of network fundamentals, specifically OSI model (TCP/IP Model), subnetting, virtual & physical NIC configuration, and network troubleshooting commands.
  • Use various patch management tools to deploy Microsoft & Linux security updates.

2. Linux Server Management:
  • Install/configure and troubleshoot Linux servers; experience with multiple distributions.
  • Perform backup/restore/rollback and disaster recovery operations in Linux infrastructure environments.
  • Communicate with other teams to mitigate any issues with managed environments.
  • Deploy patches and update applications, maintain package sources and compliance reports, and schedule patch deployments.
  • Ancillary duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system-wide software, and allocating mass storage space.

3. Hardware Management:
  • Working knowledge of Cisco UCS platform, including Cisco UCS Manager and firmware upgrades.
  • Working knowledge of SuperMicro hardware and understanding of SuperMicro Server Management.
  • Knowledgeable of HP server platform, installing, configuring, and troubleshooting issues.

4. Active Directory (AD) Administration:
  • Oversee the AD domain infrastructure.
  • Manage AD objects, including user accounts and computer objects.
  • Create, modify, and troubleshoot Group Policy objects.
  • Knowledgeable about DNS, creating and managing host records and zones.
  • Proficient with managing DHCP.

5. Patch Management:
  • Experience deploying Microsoft & Linux security patches.
  • Assist in deploying patches to workstations and servers using Ivanti Security Controls.

6. File Servers and Permissions:
  • Manage Network File Servers and FTP resources.
  • Administer end-user accounts and permissions.

7. Virtual Infrastructure:
  • Responsible for VMware & OpenShift server infrastructure.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot any issues.
  • Collaborate with team members to upgrade virtualization components.
  • Provide recommendations including new features, licensing requirements, high availability, identity integration, and risk assessment as appropriate.
  • Develop and document all aspects of the virtual infrastructure as well as best practices and operating procedures.
  • Work with application Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to build and manage virtual machines.

8. Horizon View Virtual Desktop:
  • Conduct design, implementation, administration, and support of the virtual desktop infrastructure, including VMware data-center products, Horizon View and related components, server and data storage systems, and systems software.
  • Monitor the virtual desktop environment and take necessary steps to optimize efficiency and improve performance.
  • Develop and document all aspects of the VDI environment as well as best practices and operating procedures.
  • Understand desktop image creation and optimization for optimal workstation performance.

9. Anti-Virus Management:
  • Understanding of anti-virus or endpoint security management.
  • Ability to deploy, configure, and troubleshoot endpoint security agents on servers and workstations.

10. User Support:
  • Handle Tier 2 trouble tickets submitted by end users via ServiceNow.
  • Perform troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common hardware and software issues.

Pay Rate: $57- $62 /hour W2
