Job Title: Core Engineering Lab Engineer III
Location: Sunnyvale, CA (Onsite)

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Lab Engineer III with a strong background in consumer electronics reliability (REL) testing. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise with advanced test instrumentation, environmental chambers, strain measurement tools, and high-speed imaging systems. This role requires an individual capable of designing test setups, executing complex REL tests, training technicians, and driving continuous improvements in lab processes.
Responsibilities
- Provide deep technical expertise in Digital Image Correlation (DIC), accelerometers, strain gauges, and other advanced test methodologies.
- Design, develop, and implement test fixtures, test setups, and related tooling to support REL test execution.
- Develop, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for testing processes and equipment operation.
- Train lab technicians and new personnel on equipment usage and safe operation.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate resolutions with engineering and lab management.
- Execute high-priority, high-impact reliability test requests within deadlines.
- Operate test equipment including sensors, strain gauges, accelerometers, environmental chambers, microscopes, and high-speed cameras.
- Apply sensors and strain gauges to test specimens ensuring accurate measurements and data integrity.
- Record and maintain detailed test results, perform data analysis, and interpret findings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues and resolve testing challenges.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize testing workflows and equipment utilization.
- Track and report daily activities and time spent on assigned tasks.
Required Skills & Experience
- 4 5 years of experience in consumer electronics reliability testing.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Environmental chambers (heat soak, temperature cycling)
- Controlled drop towers
- High-speed video cameras (e.g., Photron, Phantom)
- Digital microscopes (e.g., Keyence)
- Universal Testing Machines (e.g., Instron; single- and bi-axial)
- UV chambers (e.g., Atlas Material Testing)
Preferred Skills
- Experience with shock towers (e.g., Lansmont)
- Experience with electrodynamic vibration tables
- Familiarity with Digital Image Correlation (DIC) systems
- Exposure to collaborative robotic arms (e.g., Universal Robots)
