Job Description

Seeking a highly skilled and proactive IT Applications & Database Security Operations Engineer to join our internal Security Operations team. This role focuses on the end-to-end security lifecycle of internal IT applications and databases, including full SDLC through deployment and ongoing management. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in secure coding practices, database management, identity and access management (IAM), and security monitoring.

You will help ensure our internal Applications and Databases are secure, compliant, and optimized to meet our organizational needs. This position requires proficiency in programming (PL/SQL, Java, Python), a solid understanding of IAM frameworks, and experience working with security tools to help detect, mitigate, and respond to security incidents across the full application and database lifecycle.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience:
    • 3-5 years of experience in IT application security, database security, or security operations.
    • Hands-on experience with APEX, PL/SQL, Java, and Python for secure coding and application development.
    • Experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM) tools and frameworks.
    • Proficient in database security principles for Oracle SaaS and PaaS databases.
    • Experience with security testing tools for vulnerability scanning.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of secure application development principles and secure coding practices.
    • Experience with access management protocols (e.g. SAML, OAuth, IDCS).
    • Proficiency with scripting and automation tools (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
    • Familiarity with encryption, tokenization, and data masking techniques.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for collaborating with technical and non-technical teams.
    • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple security projects simultaneously.

You will help ensuring that our internal applications and databases are secure, compliant, and optimized to meet our organizational needs. This position requires proficiency in programming (PL/SQL, Java, Python), an understanding of IAM frameworks, and experience working with security tools to detect, mitigate, and respond to security incidents across the full application and database lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • As a senior member of IT security team, collaborate with other departments to design, implement, and maintain security policies, procedures, and technologies.
  • Develop and implement automation of security controls and tools including for IT Applications and Databases.
  • Hands-on experience with tools like Kubernetes, Dockers, Apex platforms
  • Design, develop and deploy security application tools protecting Oracle's internal secure data.
  • Work closely with various Oracle Security Organization to align security strategies with business objectives and ensure the protection of the organization's critical assets.
  • Stay current with emerging cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies and apply best practices to ensure the organization remains secure against evolving threats.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Applications Security or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.

Added Bonus Certifications:
  • CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor)
  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certifications (preferred)

Ideal Experience:
  • 7+ years of IT experience with 3+ years of experience in security.
  • Extensive knowledge of security technologies, frameworks, and protocols (e.g., data encryption, identity management, access management and data classification).
  • Strong background in security architecture and design, with expertise in securing networks, systems, virtualizations concepts, and applications.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure security.
  • Strong and hands-on experience/knowledge in the following or similar areas:
    • Automation development experience
    • Programming skills in PL/SQL, Python/shell scripting
    • Oracle development tools like APEX or VBCS
    • SQL schema design experience with PL/SQL, Oracle, or Java
    • Agile project methodologies

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
