About the Role:
Strava is the leading digital community for active people with more than 120 million athletes, in more than 190 countries. The platform offers a holistic view of your active lifestyle, no matter where you live, which sport you love and/or what device you use. Everyone belongs on Strava when they are pursuing an active life.

As a Senior People Business Partner at Strava, you bring a deep understanding of business strategy. You know how to read a situation, navigate sensitivities, and find creative solutions to people-related challenges. You are a business leader, not a policy pusher.

You are an extremely effective communicator. What this looks like in practice is balancing thoughtful and engaged listening with confident, concise communications that hold a room and bring people together.

Your track record of building meaningful relationships with business leaders means they want you in the room for critical decision-making moments. The expression "trusted thought partner" was dreamt up with you in mind.

You have a curiosity about anticipating hot spots in teams and cultures by using your strong connections, acting as extra eyes and ears, and building rapport and trust with people up and down the organization.

You make decisions guided equally by data-driven insights and a keen ability to read a room and sense what's happening behind the scenes. You successfully balance people-oriented and organizational priorities and ask thoughtful questions to help coach and guide leaders and teammates to outstanding outcomes.

Our Strava business partner team is small but mighty. You're a true generalist and business partner with knowledge and experience in a broad range of tactical and strategic areas of human resources, and you're ready to roll up your sleeves to bring projects and initiatives across the finish line.

You're willing, able, and excited to connect with Strava teammates in person several times a year in our San Francisco office and working hub cities.

This is a mostly in office, role based in San Francisco.

You're excited about this opportunity because you will:
  • Be a trusted thought partner: For crucial business leaders and their respective organizations to support operational success, focusing on organizational design, diversity, equity and inclusion, organizational effectiveness, talent development, and team building
  • Lead and deliver programs: Lead essential People programs and initiatives, including performance and compensation cycles, talent and succession reviews, development planning, engagement surveys, employee listening, and more.
  • Coach and mentor: Support managers, providing feedback to drive impact, navigate challenges, and champion belonging throughout the team
  • Effectively communicate and influence: Successfully influence others by providing direction, knowledge, and support to create an impactful organization.
  • Champion antiracism and DEI: Bring an orientation toward creating an equitable experience for all employees, with a keen eye toward mitigating bias and driving improvements in organizational health from a DEI perspective.
You will be successful here by:
  • Serving as a primary strategic partner on people-related projects and decisions that impact and optimize the teams they lead, using data insights to guide decision-making and offer proactive solutions
  • Demonstrating your dual superpowers of putting people first while also driving strategic objectives
  • Bringing clarity and transparency when communicating how decisions are made
  • Assessing employee development needs throughout the organization and making recommendations for appropriate solutions
  • Embracing an inclusive, collaborative environment that elevates a diverse set of voices and experiences.
We are excited about you because you have:
  • 8+ years experience as a strategic people business partner, chief of staff, or you've been a people-focused leader and manager in tech and are wanting to transition into a People role
  • Experience leading, designing, and/or managing organizational development programs such as performance management, merit cycles, succession planning, talent reviews, engagement surveys, etc.
  • Excellent influencer, communicator, facilitator, and listener with a balanced and thoughtful approach, adept at building trust
  • Keen understanding of people and team dynamics, with an ability to glean insights and action solutions that bring others along the way
  • Highly accountable and organizationally minded individual who is skilled at project management, and who can carry many simultaneous initiatives forward and prioritize fluidly as needs change
  • Possesses a strong growth approach, the desire to learn and continually improve, and to help others do the same
