Job Title: Data Architect /Data Lead – Data & Integration (Snowflake & Azure Data Fabric)
Remote position
The Data Architect / Data Lead will own the end-to-end data architecture and integration design for enterprise data platforms built on Snowflake and Azure Data Fabric. This role is responsible for source system analysis, data modeling, data mapping, and integration architecture, while partnering closely with BI teams, source system owners, developers, QA, and business stakeholders. The individual will provide technical leadership across development, testing, UAT, and production deployment.
 Key Responsibilities
Data Architecture & Design
  • Lead source system analysis to understand data structures, business rules, data quality constraints, and integration requirements.
  • Design end-to-end data architecture leveraging Snowflake and Azure Data Fabric services.
  • Define data ingestion, transformation, and consumption patterns aligned with enterprise standards and scalability requirements.
  • Establish and enforce data architecture principles, naming conventions, and design standards.
Data Modeling & Mapping
  • Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models for analytical and operational use cases.
  • Define and maintain source-to-target data mappings, transformation logic, and business rules.
  • Design Snowflake schemas and models (e.g., medallion architecture: Raw/Bronze/Silver/Gold).
  • Ensure data models support downstream BI, reporting, and analytics needs.
Integration & Engineering Leadership
  • Architect and guide data integrations using Azure Data Fabric components (e.g., pipelines, data flows, event-driven patterns).
  • Provide technical direction to data engineers for pipeline development, transformations, and performance optimization.
  • Review and approve technical designs, SQL, pipelines, and code for quality and alignment with architecture.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
  • Partner with BI teams to ensure data models and datasets meet reporting and analytics requirements.
  • Collaborate with source system teams to align on data extraction methods, refresh strategies, and change management.
  • Act as a primary data design authority, translating business needs into technical solutions.
Development, QA, and UAT Support
  • Support development teams during build phases by resolving design issues and clarifying requirements.
  • Work closely with QA teams to define test strategies, data validation rules, and reconciliation approaches.
  • Support UAT activities, addressing data issues, validating results, and ensuring business sign-off.
Deployment & Production Support
  • Lead and support production deployments, including data readiness, validation, and go-live activities.
  • Assist in post-deployment monitoring, performance tuning, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure proper documentation for architecture, data models, mappings, and operational processes.
 Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
  • Strong experience as a Data Architect or Data Lead on enterprise data platforms.
  • Hands-on expertise with Snowflake (schemas, performance tuning, SQL, data modeling).
  • Experience with Azure Data Fabric and Azure data services (pipelines, orchestration, integrations).
  • Solid understanding of ETL/ELT patterns, data warehousing, and analytics architectures.
  • Proficiency in data modeling techniques (dimensional, normalized, hybrid).
Collaboration & Leadership
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor data engineers and developers.
  • Strong experience working with BI, QA, UAT, and business stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills to translate complex data concepts into business-friendly language.
