BCforward is currently seeking a highly motivated Scrum Master at Chicago, IL (Hybrid).
Position Title: Scrum Master
Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid)
Pay Rate: $48/hr. to $50/hr. on W2
Anticipated Start Date: 10/01/2025

Job Description:
As a Scrum Master, you will play a pivotal role in driving Agile practices (with an emphasis on Scrum) across multiple geographically distributed and cross-functional teams developing customer-facing mobile applications for the airline industry. You will partner closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and engineering teams to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality digital products that enhance the travel experience
You will facilitate key Agile ceremonies, remove impediments, maintain transparency through metrics, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. This role requires strong collaboration skills to coordinate across teams, time zones, and business functions, ensuring alignment toward common goals
Key Responsibilities:
Agile Facilitation & Coaching
Facilitate sprint planning, daily scrums, sprint reviews, and retrospectives across multiple scrum teams
Guide teams in the adoption and maturity of Agile practices, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability
Promote continuous improvement, encouraging experimentation and feedback loops within teams
Team & Stakeholder Collaboration
Enable effective coordination across cross-functional and geographically distributed teams, ensuring seamless communication and alignment
Act as a servant leader, removing obstacles and enabling teams to deliver customer value efficiently
Partner with business stakeholders, product management, and airline operations teams to align product development with strategic business goals
Build trust and transparency across technical and business teams to ensure clarity on priorities and progress
Scaling & Delivery
Support scaling Agile practices across multiple teams working on complex airline digital solutions and mobile applications
Facilitate dependency management between teams, business units, and third-party partners.
Monitor and communicate delivery progress using relevant Agile metrics (e.g., velocity, cycle time, predictability, and business outcomes)
Drive alignment between release planning and business roadmaps, ensuring timely delivery of features critical to airline operations and customer experience.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
Act as a change agent, championing Agile values at all organizational levels
Mentor and coach team members, product owners, and leaders to build internal Agile capability
Foster a culture of continuous learning, adaptive planning, and value-driven delivery
Encourage innovation in mobile app design, development, and delivery, tailored to the unique challenges of the airline industry
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
Certifications: CSM, CSPO, PMI-ACP, or equivalent Agile certification preferred
Tools & Technologies
Agile Management Tools: JIRA, Rally, Azure DevOps, or equivalent
Collaboration Tools: Confluence, Miro, MS Teams, Slack
Reporting & Metrics: Jira Dashboards, Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools
CI/CD & DevOps Awareness: Jenkins, Git, GitHub/GitLab, or equivalent
Mobile Development Lifecycle Tools: Firebase, AppDynamics, TestFlight, or similar monitoring/testing platforms
Skills & Competencies
Agile & Scrum Practices: Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum practices and scaling frameworks (e.g., SAFe, LeSS, Nexus)
Cross-Team Collaboration: Proven experience facilitating Agile practices across multiple scrum teams in distributed/global environments
Communication & Facilitation: Excellent ability to collaborate and communicate with all levels of the organization, from scrum team members to executives. Skilled in leading discussions, demonstrating value-add principles, and influencing stakeholders
Conflict Resolution & Trust Building: Superb ability to build strong partnerships, resolve conflicts, foster transparency, and gain respect throughout the organization
Metrics & Data-Driven Decision Making: Skilled in defining, tracking, and using metrics (velocity, cycle time, predictability, business outcomes) to guide decision-making and continuous improvement
Continuous Improvement: Committed to ongoing professional growth, learning new tools and techniques, and helping teams adopt better ways of working
Technical & Business Domain Understanding: Able to quickly gain a high-level understanding of both technical and business domains, with experience in mobile app development and airline industry solutions preferred
Leadership & Thought Partnership: Recognized as a thought leader who challenges the status quo, inspires innovation, and grows every day. Able to build trust, earn respect, and act as a change agent in Agile transformation
Energy & Enthusiasm: High-energy presence, enthusiastic, and able to inspire and motivate teams across geographies and functions
Presentation & Community Engagement: Strong presentation and communication record, with the ability to represent the organization at conferences, professional community events, and internal forums
Product Envisioning & Development Practices: Deep understanding of product envisioning, backlog refinement, and modern software development practices to drive delivery of high-value features
Iterative Development Knowledge: Solid understanding of iterative development, software development processes, and engineering fundamentals
Aptitude for Technology & Learning: Quick learner with the ability to adopt and use technology effectively for teaching, coaching, and action research
