Nightwing is supporting a U.S. Government customer on a large mission critical development and sustainment program to design, build, deliver, and operate a network operations environment with new cyber capabilities to address emerging threats. Nightwing is seeking a talented and experienced Principal Systems Engineer to join our dynamic development team. In this role, you will be focused on coordinating projects, managing timelines, and ensuring effective communication across teams and customers. The ideal candidate will bridge communication with leadership and management between teams through cross-functional collaboration, bringing a deep understanding of system workflows and delivery optimization. Responsibilities may also include integration with various areas of the program to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of advanced cybersecurity capabilities.

Responsibilities include:

System Engineering
  • Support the design and implementation of scalable system architectures that accommodate multiple product and development teams
  • Analysis, alignment and leadership for teams to communicate with key stakeholders, translating the information received into prioritization of features and work.
  • Analyze system requirements and translate them into technical specifications and implement roadmaps
  • Coordinate system integrations across different technology stacks and platforms
  • Establish system performance metrics and monitoring frameworks

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Facilitate technical discussions between development teams, project leads, and stakeholders
  • Coordinate system releases and deployment schedules across multiple engineering teams
  • Lead technical planning sessions and system design reviews
  • Serve as primary liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders for system-related initiatives

Process & Workflow Optimization
  • Develop and maintain system delivery processes that ensure efficient deployment cycles
  • Implement continuous integration and deployment pipelines
  • Establish technical governance framework and best practices
  • Drive adoption system reliability and performance improvement initiatives

CI/CD, Deployment and DevOps
  • Work with deployment tools and automation processes to streamline deployment pipelines
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to optimize the development and deployment workflow
  • Familiarity with monitoring and interpretation of findings with the CI/CD Processing Pipeline

Required Skills:
  • Active Secret (S) clearance. Must be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
  • Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability
  • Ten (10) or more years of applicable systems engineering experience required.
    [A Master's degree in a related discipline may substitute for two (2) years of experience.

Desired Skills:
  • Proven experience as a Team Coach or similar role.

Required Education:

Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical field. Two years of related work experience may be substituted for each year of degree level education.

Desired Certifications:
  • DoD 8570.1-M Compliance at IAT Level I (e.g., Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)) certification highly desired
  • Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification desired.
