SAIC has a funded need for a Space Protection Data Mission Engineer to fill a key position supporting a Government Intelligence Community (IC) customer charged will delivering solutions across a range of rapidly expanding and complex space and ground system initiatives.
The Space Protection Data Mission Engineer is a member of a team of high-performing mission and system engineers directly supporting the Government to define, develop, and evolve a state-of-the-art ground software system. This position serves on-site with the Government customer located in Chantilly, VA.

- Primary data systems subject matter expert support for the customer system data layer solution owner
- Elicit system data layer capability needs and dependencies from teams developing mission applications
- Manage the generation, maintenance, and coordination of system data layer requirements with the Government and stakeholders
- Lead the coordination and integration of multiple Department of Defense (DoD) and IC external data sources
- Participate in trade studies, evaluate developer solutions, and guide system data layer development activities
Qualifications
Required Qualifications :
- Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
- Bachelors and 14 years' experience in space systems, software development, data analysis, or other engineering domains; OR Masters and 12 (experience will be considered in lieu of degree)
- Understand and articulate the trade-offs between data management architectures and technologies (e.g. MQ vs. Kafka)
- Experience engineering, managing, and evaluating data layer solutions
- Knowledge of modern agile software development principles
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience supporting the NRO
- Experience engineering Space Situational Awareness, Space Domain Awareness, or other Intelligence missions
- Experience authoring interface control documents or application programming interfaces
- Experience applying modern software development principles to IC, DoD, or commercial programs
