BAE Systems is seeking a Huntsville, AL-based RADAR/ RF missile & munition lead Systems Engineer to join a growing team developing cutting-edge capabilities in multimodal/multifunction seekers. You will serve as a key technical contributor on our integrated product team in the Next Generation Weapons (NGW) portfolio of the Precision Guidance and Sensing Solutions (PGSS) product line. You will be responsible for deeply impactful contributions to next generation military autonomy. Members of the NGW development team drive collaborative value creation that is greater than the sum of their individual contributions. You will participate in efforts across the full-spectrum of technology maturation ranging from Strategic Initiatives, IRAD/CRAD R&D prototypes, EMD units, LRIP units to full rate production systems. As a senior-principal level contributor, you will work with other engineering staff & team leaders to grow and capture our knowledge through engineering changes, lessons learned, insights, Agile retrospectives and product/process improvements in your area(s) of expertise. Finally, since cultural and behavioral principles are a special part of our SE (Systems Engineering) organization, we are also looking for team players who will support our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

The successful candidate will have direct experience developing RADAR/ RF seekers for missile/munition applications, be comfortable architecting subsystem solutions that include a combination of COTS and Internally developed components, has strong background in radar, phased array, beam control, signal processing and seeker subsystem design. This position is for a Subject Matter Expert in RADAR/ RF that will work a Quick React Program that is supporting an Urgent Material Request. The ideal candidate is comfortable working on high performance teams supporting programs of national significance.

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Candidate must possess either a BS or MS in Optics, Physics, EE, Mathematics or equivalent
  • Understanding and background in RF systems architecture, modeling, design and test for active and passive RF seeker/ sensor systems
  • Experience in weapons systems design, missile systems design, or weapons systems performance analysis
  • Experience leading technical teams

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Advanced degree in Optics, Physics, EE, Mathematics, or equivalent
  • RF systems architecture, Link budget analyses and RF propagation models
  • Familiarity with RF receivers and transmitters architectures
  • Basic knowledge of sensing modalities across the electromagnetic spectrum including Doppler radar, SAR, HRR, lidar, and hyperspectral sensing
  • Working knowledge of: LADAR/LiDAR, Laser, DTV, EO, I2, CCTV, LLCCTV, RF and/or other active sensing or illuminated theory, techniques, components, and systems across the electro optical spectrum from UV to LWIR; laser characteristics/solutions, atmospheric transmission and modeling; conduct of complex trade studies involving sensors, optical designs, link budgets, make/buy decisions, SWaP-C, and environmental constraints; including performance testing of EO components, sub-systems, and complete systems
  • Digital Engineering, Model Based Systems Engineering (SysML), Model Based Agile Engineering (Value Driven Digital Threads) and Agile Mindset principle, practices & processes and tools & techniques
  • Experience with machine learning/ATR related concepts/techniques including dimensionality reduction, network-based regression, classification, kernel methods, data cultivation and engineering, synthetic data generation, hyperparameter/model selection, and clustering

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $127900 - $217400

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
