Job Description:

  • Clearance: Interim secret sufficient to start. Candidate will be expected to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Security Clearance.
  • Work Location - Onsite: Due to the classified nature of the subject matter, a majority of the work time will be spent in the office at the Laboratory.
  • Candidate should expect to be onsite 5 days/week.

Description:

Conceives, designs, lays out, and coordinates editorial illustrations and creative artwork. Develops interpretive themes that convey ideas and information. Creates graphic presentations that communicate mood, emphasis, insight, viewpoint, and similar visual impressions. Provides guidance on graphic technology. Works closely with internal company contacts to understand requirements and create cost efficient graphic designs through available mediums. May provide computer graphic services for web artwork. May also have responsibility or input on reproduction and printing processes through in-house resources or outside vendors.

Defend and protect our warfighters, naval fleet, and surface-based assets by developing advanced sensors, electronic warfare systems, and battle management technologies to counter evolving threats. Of particular interest to the group is the development of: software-reconfigurable electronic warfare systems and prototypes, advanced signal processing algorithms for signal exploitation, resource coordination techniques for enhanced battle management, and artificial intelligence to enable the development of next generation countermeasures, sensors, and enhanced human-machine teaming for fleet defense. Major activities within the group include concept development, systems analysis and architectures, algorithms design and development, hardware prototype system design and development, and experimental field testing and data analysis.

Summary:

Group at Client Lab is looking for a Graphic Designer to produce a wide variety of graphic design and graphic arts products that include; presentation design, document design, poster design, information graphics, event materials, digital signs, technical illustrations, and photo manipulation.

We are looking for someone with professional experience in a technical research environment and a proven ability to work with technical subject matter experts to turn written, numerical, and existing content into compelling graphic representations. This person should have highly effective time management and project management skills with an ability to work under tight deadlines and changing customer demands in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

The majority of the products produced in this position will be presentation designs. The candidate must have experience with:

  • Designing individual charts to complete presentations
  • Presentation clean up - reviewing presentations for adherence to the company s presentation production standards and Department of Defense classification marking requirements
  • Presentation concept review or storyboarding helping customers in the early stages of a presentation to develop their concepts.

The candidate should also have additional graphic design experience in:

  • Poster production for internal and external conference posters, hallway displays, and special event posters.
  • Document design of technical reports, project memos, and conference event material.

The graphic arts skills and experiences the candidate should have are:

  • Generating information graphics of block diagrams, flow charts, and timelines
  • Scenario illustrations of mission locations, test events or plans, and other bigger picture situations
  • Technical illustrations of machinery, hardware, ships, vehicles, weapons, structures and a variety of other technical items and objects
  • Concept illustrations of new technology which includes electronic components, antennas and radars, and other various hardware.
  • Photographing a variety of hardware and other electronic equipment, circuit boards and other micro components, and test site equipment
  • Photo editing and retouching includes resizing and cleaning up low-resolution photos, removing unwanted parts of an image, color correcting images

The candidate must have experience in the following software:

  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Microsoft PowerPoint
  • The candidate should be familiar with additional software.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Adobe Premiere and Media Encoder
  • Blender

  • Candidates MUST provide a portfolio sample for submission showcasing their knowledge and understanding of:
  • Graphic design, typography, color theory, and information design
  • Computer illustration, specifically a technology related subject matter
  • Photography of mechanical or other hardware
  • Photo editing and image correction
  • Any other medium or subject matter that will demonstrate their skills and talent
