Job Description ::

Project Duration: 90 calendar days from the date of engagement.

Location: Various Public Safety work locations throughout the City of Detroit.

Project Goal: To efficiently unbox, set up, deploy, and image new computer equipment, while also systematically removing, inventorying, and preparing old equipment and cabling for recycling or disposal.

Requirements:

  • Mobility: The technician must possess reliable transportation and be able to report to various work locations throughout the City of Detroit as required by the project schedule.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces. i.e., under desks and work consoles.
  • Security Clearance: The technician must successfully pass a fingerprint-based background clearance conducted by the Detroit Police Department. The cost of this clearance will be borne by the City of Detroit. Failure to pass this clearance will result in immediate termination of this SOW.
  • Network Access Restrictions: The technician will be provided with no rights or direct access to the Public Safety network. All network-related tasks (e.g., joining to a domain, network drive mapping) will be performed by authorized City IT staff.
  • Tools: The technician must provide their own basic hand tools necessary for equipment setup and removal (e.g., screwdrivers, cable cutters). Specialized tools will be provided by the City.

Services to be performed:

The technician will perform the following tasks under the direction of the City's IT staff:

  • New Equipment Deployment:
    • Unboxing and Setup: Unbox new computer equipment (desktops, laptops, monitors, peripherals).
    • Applying asset tags.
    • Physical Setup: Assemble and connect new equipment, including monitors mounted on stands and monitor arrays, ensuring proper cable management.
    • Software Image Application: Apply a pre-provided software image to all new computer equipment. This process will be guided by City IT staff.
    • Functional Verification: Perform basic power-on and display tests to ensure new equipment is operational.
    • Old Equipment Removal and Management:
    • Equipment Disconnection: Safely disconnect old computer equipment (desktops, laptops, monitors, peripherals) from power and network connections.
    • Cabling Removal: Remove all old and unused cabling associated with the replaced equipment, ensuring a clean and organized workspace.
    • Monitor Removal: Carefully remove existing monitors, including those mounted on stands and monitor arrays.
    • Inventory: Accurately inventory all old and replaced equipment, recording serial numbers, asset tags, and any other required information as per City guidelines.
    • Preparation for Disposal/Recycling: Prepare old and replaced equipment for either recycling or disposal, which may include packaging, labeling, and staging in a designated area. The technician will not be responsible for the final transport or disposal, but will ensure equipment is ready for pickup.

Deliverables:

  • Completed deployment of new IT equipment at specified locations.
  • Removal and staging of old IT equipment and cabling.
  • Detailed inventory logs of all old and new equipment, submitted in a mutually agreed-upon format (e.g., SmartSheet).
  • Daily activity reports summarizing work performed, locations visited, and any issues encountered.
