JD 7157 - Enterprise Network Architect Consultant (Must Reside in Sacramento to be Considered)

Overview

Seeking an experienced Enterprise Network Architect Consultant to design, implement, and support complex enterprise and cloud network environments. The consultant will develop secure, scalable, and resilient network architectures supporting both on-premises and cloud platforms, while ensuring alignment with enterprise infrastructure goals and business continuity.

This is a deliverables-based engagement with a 12-month term, supporting enterprise-level systems and integration with multiple data and business platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Network Architecture & Implementation

Design and implement modern network architectures for hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
Develop advanced network solutions to support critical business and data platforms (e.g., cloud analytics, investment, or enterprise systems).
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure infrastructure scalability, performance, and security.
Integrate secure connectivity solutions across multiple environments and applications.

High Availability & Resiliency

Implement automated monitoring, redundancy, and failover mechanisms for uninterrupted connectivity.
Develop contingency plans and seamless transition strategies for critical applications and services.
Ensure solutions adhere to enterprise resiliency and performance standards.

Advanced Technology Integration

Plan and implement Software-Defined Networking (SDN), Software-Defined Wide Area Networking (SD-WAN), and Network Function Virtualization (NFV).
Use Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform to automate provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management of network infrastructure.
Align design and deployment with enterprise automation and cybersecurity goals.

Network Operations & Support

Provide Level II/III support for enterprise data networks and hybrid cloud environments.
Administer and maintain the following technologies and tools:

Firewalls
F5 Load Balancers
Infoblox IP Management
Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
VPN and Site-to-Site VPN tunnels
Wireless networking (Cacti, SolarWinds)
Access Control Server (Device Authentication)
SecureCRT (CLI Solution), Cyclades, Gigamon monitoring
Switching and Routing (all aspects)

Optimize performance and troubleshoot across routing, switching, and security domains.

Knowledge Transfer & Documentation

Conduct recurring knowledge transfer sessions, cross-training, and workshops.
Develop detailed documentation for all deliverables including:

Network architecture diagrams and configurations
Incident reports, resolutions, and performance metrics
Training materials and best-practice guides

Ensure all project documentation is complete and organized in shared repositories.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (required).
5+ years experience designing and implementing network architectures in enterprise-scale environments.
5+ years hands-on experience with:

Software-Defined Networking (SDN)
Software-Defined Access (SDA)
Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN)
Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)

Proficiency in core network technologies and protocols:

TCP/IP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS
VPNs, Firewalls, Load Balancers, Routers, and Switches

Valid professional certifications such as:

CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CCDE, PCNSE, NSE9, JNCDA, or JNCDS-DC

Desired Skills

Experience with Terraform or equivalent Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
Strong knowledge of NFV and automation frameworks.
Familiarity with enterprise data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Bloomberg, Charles River, or similar).
Demonstrated ability to support high-availability and mission-critical environments.
Excellent documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Ability to perform in a hybrid/onsite environment with extended business-hour support.

Work Schedule

Standard business hours: 5:00 AM 2:00 PM PST, Monday through Friday.
Hybrid/onsite engagement expected.
