Overview

A leading architecture and engineering (A&E) firm supporting a wide range of industries-including energy, telecommunications, transportation, water, and utilities-is seeking an Autodesk Support Specialist with a focus on Civil 3D. In addition to its engineering services, the organization also operates construction and IT divisions, all working collaboratively to support diverse client needs.
Due to increasing project volume and upcoming retirements, the IT department's Design Support team is expanding. This team provides technical assistance and guidance across various design platforms, including Bentley, MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D.

Role Summary

The Autodesk Support Specialist will provide technical support and workflow guidance for Autodesk software products, including AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360, and especially Civil 3D. The goal is to ensure optimal software performance, resolve technical issues, and enhance productivity across design and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Civil 3D & Design Software Support

  • Serve as the internal helpdesk subject matter expert (SME) for Civil 3D
  • Provide production support and respond to technical assistance requests in person, by phone, or electronically
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues related to Civil 3D
  • Educate and empower employees through Civil 3D and IT training
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and enforcing Civil 3D workspaces and standards
  • Research and resolve technical questions using available resources
  • Support the Corporate CAD Manager's vision and responsibilities
  • Assist with organizing the CAD environment and coordinating project standards
  • Log all help desk interactions in a timely and accurate manner
  • Complete additional duties as assigned

General Autodesk Support

  • Provide technical support for Autodesk products via phone, email, or remote sessions
  • Troubleshoot installation, licensing, configuration, and performance issues
  • Maintain and update knowledge base articles and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Collaborate with IT and project teams to deploy software updates and patches
  • Deliver training sessions as needed
  • Track and manage support cases using internal ticketing systems

Required Skills & Qualifications

  1. Minimum 3 years of experience supporting Civil 3D or working in a CAD/BIM environment
  2. Proven ability to troubleshoot and support design software and hardware across cross-functional teams
  3. Strong customer service orientation and coordination skills
  4. Familiarity with Windows OS, basic networking, and cloud-based platforms


Preferred Qualifications

  • Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) certification
  • Experience with Civil 3D workspace and standards development
  • Knowledge of other Autodesk tools such as Revit, Navisworks, and BIM 360
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for training
  • Flexible schedule availability

Work Environment

  • Monday-Friday schedule, typically 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Hybrid or fully remote options available
  • Must be located near one of the organization's office locations (MD, DC, FL, TX, NC)
  • Collaborative team environment with opportunities for independent work
  • Contract-to-hire position: hourly during contract phase, with conversion to salaried employment

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
