Job Title: Data Engineer (6-Month Contract-to-Hire)
Location: Onsite Columbus, OH
Summary:
We re hiring a Data Engineer for a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity to lead data engineering efforts for our business intelligence initiatives in the residential HVAC new construction and services industry. In this role, you ll be responsible for building and managing the data infrastructure that powers analytics and insights across the company.
You ll work with cutting-edge tools and cloud technologies to turn raw data into meaningful insights, helping to improve operational efficiency, customer service, and project performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of scalable data pipelines for business intelligence and analytics
- Build and manage ETL processes to integrate data from HVAC systems, CRMs, and financial platforms
- Ensure data accuracy, security, and regulatory compliance
- Implement cloud-based data solutions using tools like Azure, Databricks, and data accelerator platforms
- Automate dashboards and reporting for real-time business insights
- Create and optimize data models to support performance tracking and operational efficiency
- Develop predictive models for HVAC system maintenance and service planning
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT, operations, finance, sales, service) to support data needs and deliver insights
Requirements:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering (experience in construction or services preferred)
- Proficient in SQL, Python, or Scala
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like Azure and Databricks
- Strong understanding of ETL pipelines, data warehousing, and database management
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with data lakehouse architecture and large-scale data migration
- Familiarity with machine learning for predictive maintenance
- Strong communication skills to explain technical data insights to business teams
- Ability to integrate data from multiple sources into a unified platform
- Understanding of operational workflows, service metrics, and inventory systems
Additional Details:
- Onsite position in Columbus, OH
- Evening/weekend work and on-call availability may be required
- Must carry a cell phone and be reachable after hours as needed
- Willingness to work overtime when necessary for issue resolution or project deadlines
- Occasional domestic travel may be required
