Sr. R&D Electrical Engineer (Orlando, FL)

Job Description

A Sr. R&D Electrical Engineer who can provide electrical engineering support across all aspects of products from advanced development to troubleshooting of issues in the field. You will perform detailed design of patient monitoring assemblies, as well as generating and managing component level requirements.

Your role:
  • Lead the design and development of next-generation Magnetic Resonance (MR) Patient Care electrical hardware, from concept to production. Own activities include circuit design, schematic capture, power budgeting, thermal management, and EMI/EMC compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams-systems, mechanical, and project management-to ensure electrical solutions meet system-level requirements. Aligning on content, timelines, and costs to deliver on project goals.
  • Drive product development through concept studies, prototyping, design reviews, and rigorous verification testing. Provide technical leadership in DfX activities, FMEAs, and requirements traceability.
  • Support deployed products by analyzing customer, field, and factory feedback. Translate findings into design enhancements and continuous improvements for reliability and safety.
  • Mentor junior engineers, interns, and co-ops while contributing to technical leadership across the team. Act as a subject matter expert in electrical design best practices for medical device development.

You're the right fit if:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Electronic, or related Engineering field. Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience (2+ with Master's), preferably in medical devices or highly regulated industries.
  • Proven expertise in analog front ends, power supplies, high-speed digital circuits, embedded systems, and FPGA.
  • Experience with RF design, SoCs, and signal processing is a plus.
  • You are skilled in design for Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) mitigation, signal integrity, and thermal management. Hands-on experience with board bring-up, troubleshooting, and simulation tools like ModelSim, Matlab, or Simulink.
  • Familiar with regulatory standards such as CE, UL, EMC, and IEC 60601-1 for medical devices. Demonstrated ability to apply V-model methodology, from requirements definition to testing and reporting.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to guide teams in a matrixed environment. Self-motivated, improvement-focused, and adept at documenting engineering decisions and design analysis.

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company's facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company's main facilities, generally at the customers' or suppliers' locations.

Philips Transparency Details

The pay range for this position in (Orlando, Florida) is $99,000 to $158,000.00

The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.

In addition, other compensation, such as an annual incentive bonus, sales commission or long-term incentives may be offered.
