Job Title: Sr. Analytics Engineer
Job Location: El Cajon, CA 92101
Job Type: Direct Hire; Onsite
Salary: $120,00 - $140,000
The Senior Analytics Engineer will lead the design and execution of advanced data pipelines, reports, and visualizations. Collaborates with stakeholders, mentors junior team members, and drives data governance and process improvements. Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) or Trainual content owner in specialized department functions. Uses independent judgment, technical expertise, communication, and leadership skills to transform data into actionable insights to support business goals.
Primary Responsibilities:
Designs, tests, developments, manages and execution of complex data pipelines, reports and data visualizations for both internal operations and external client-facing tools.
Strategizes and determines a course of action, assesses and resolves a wide range of issues, and provides counsel and advice as required
Leads and executes projects with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong project management and organizational skills
Collaborates closely with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into effective and efficient solutions
Builds strong relationships with team members using clear communication and fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment
Creates fully formed, standardized tasks and adheres to company task management processes within project management tools
Contributes to the development and maintenance of data governance policies, standards, and best practices within the organization
Leads projects dedicated to the improvement of department processes and efficiency
Mentors junior team members, fostering their development and ensuring alignment with team objectives
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements
Stays updated on industry trends and engages in continuous learning to enhance technical skills and expertise
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor's degree or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent work experience. Highly specialized knowledge of computer systems or software, and the ability to design, develop, document, analyze, create, test, and modify computer systems or programs
More than five (5+) years of related experience in data analytics or related roles, two (2) years of which are highly relevant
Proven expertise in analyzing data and metrics to develop and communicate effective solutions clearly
Expert proficiency in SQL and Python (or similar programming languages)
Deep expertise in data transformation tools like dbt and cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure)
Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling techniques
Experience with data version control tools (e.g., Git) and Agile development methodologies
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
A strong work ethic, a passion for data, and a commitment to continuous learning
Demonstrates excellent understanding of department practices, procedures, and specialized functions. Applies independent judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions for projects
Strong project management skills, with a track record of leading successful initiatives
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs, Sheets, or similar software
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
Proven ability to mentor and train team members
