Role: Lead Data Governance Analyst
Location: Rochester, NY 2-3 days onsite per week
Duration: Long Term

Important Note: Must be in Rochester area, probably going direct at some point (maybe 4/1/26),, hybrid 2-3 days onsite, office on westside of Rochester (Buffalo Rd)
Position Summary
The Senior Data Governance Analyst plays a critical role in shaping and executing the enterprise-wide data governance strategy. This role ensures that data assets are managed effectively across systems and business domains, enabling high-quality, secure, and accessible data to support strategic decision-making. The analyst will collaborate with data owners, stewards, engineers, and business leaders to embed governance standards into operational workflows and analytics platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- - Develop and maintain data governance policies, standards, and procedures aligned with enterprise goals.
- - Lead initiatives to improve data quality, metadata management, and reference data consistency.
- - Facilitate the Data Governance Council and domain workgroups to resolve cross-functional data issues.
- - Partner with Data Owners and Data Stewards to define business rules, data classifications, and quality thresholds.
- - Support change management efforts to embed governance practices into daily operations.
- - Conduct data quality audits and root cause analysis to identify and remediate issues.
- - Monitor compliance with governance standards and escalate risks as needed.
- Work closely with data engineers, BI developers, and analysts to ensure governance standards are applied across data pipelines and reporting tools.
- - Provide training and support to business users on data governance practices.
- - Develop dashboards and reports to track governance KPIs, data quality scores, and issue resolution timelines.
- - Present findings and recommendations to executive leadership and governance committees.
- - Lead agile project management practices for data management initiatives, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- - Manage and prioritize the data governance backlog, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and stakeholder needs.
- - Track and resolve cross-functional dependencies across data domains, systems, and teams to ensure timely delivery of governance projects.
Qualifications
- - Bachelor s degree in Information Systems, Data Management, or related field; Master s preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in data governance, data quality, or enterprise data management.
- - Strong understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK), metadata, lineage, and stewardship models.
- Proficiency in data tools such as Power BI, Salesforce, QuickSight, and AWS Glue.
- - Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred Skills
- - Experience with ERP and CRM systems integration (e.g., A+, Salesforce).
- - Familiarity with regulatory requirements around data privacy and security.
- - Ability to lead cross-functional workshops and drive consensus on data standards.
