Technical Windows Project Manager
W2 only - no C2C
mostly remote, but must be in the DFW area and able to come into the office if needed

Summary:
We are seeking a Technical Project Manager to lead a Windows upgrade initiative, focused on migrating legacy applications and systems to the latest supported Windows Server release. This role requires a strong understanding of infrastructure, applications, and Windows environments, as well as exceptional coordination and communication skills to drive results across multiple technical and business teams. The ideal candidate will not be hands-on technical but will be fluent in Windows and infrastructure terminology, capable of engaging with technical teams, understanding dependencies, and ensuring seamless project execution across all workstreams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Windows upgrade project, overseeing the migration of outdated Windows applications and servers to current supported versions.
- Coordinate efforts across Application Owners, Infrastructure teams, and Business stakeholders to ensure upgrades are executed efficiently and on schedule.
- Facilitate project meetings, status updates, and progress reporting to senior leadership.
- Create and manage project plans, schedules, timelines, and milestones, holding teams accountable for deliverables and commitments.
- Document progress, risks, and issues in ADO (Azure DevOps) required for tracking user stories, tasks, and project documentation.
- Utilize Workfront for project tracking, workflow management, and reporting.
- Handle challenging stakeholders and push back diplomatically while keeping the project on track.
- Identify and escalate risks, proactively removing roadblocks to maintain momentum.
- Ensure application and system owners are aligned on upgrade timelines, requirements, and validation steps.
- Provide clear and concise communication to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Drive engagement and foster collaboration between infrastructure, application and business partners to meet deadlines and objectives.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 7+ years of experience as a Technical Project Manager or Infrastructure Project Manager within enterprise IT environments.
- Strong understanding of Windows Server environments, application dependencies, and upgrade processes.
- Familiarity with Active Directory, Windows applications, and infrastructure terminology.
- Experience managing application migrations or system upgrades across complex enterprise environments.
- Proficiency in Azure DevOps (ADO) for user story and documentation tracking required.
- Experience using Workfront or similar project management tools.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills able to bring teams together and influence outcomes.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and status reports.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
