Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer (Full Lifecycle, Automation & Security Focus)

Clearance: Active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one. (Can hold up to a TS/SCI)

Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Systems Engineer to transform innovative concepts into secure, operational solutions for the Department of Defense (DoD). You will be a driving force in our team, managing the full system lifecycle from concept development to deployment and maintenance. Your deep understanding of DoD standards, expertise in automation, and meticulous attention to detail will be critical in delivering cutting-edge solutions that meet the rigorous demands of the defense industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Concept Development: Translate high-level ideas into detailed user stories, functional, non-functional, and derived requirements.
  • Requirements Management: Develop and maintain comprehensive requirements documentation aligned with DoD standards and project goals.
  • System Architecture & Design: Create detailed architecture diagrams, rack elevations, resource tracking documents, and BOMs.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement solutions adhering to industry best practices and DoD security standards (NIST, STIGs, RMF, etc.).
  • Prototyping & Testing: Build prototypes to validate designs, conduct rigorous testing, and ensure functionality and security.
  • Automation: Leverage Ansible and PowerShell to automate deployment processes, configuration management, and system maintenance, minimizing manual intervention.
  • Documentation: Produce clear and concise documentation covering configuration, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Required Skills:
  • DoD Systems Engineering: Strong background in DoD Systems Engineering processes and methodologies. Experience with DoD standards and compliance requirements.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in developing and managing system requirements. Skilled in creating architecture diagrams, rack elevations, and BOMs.
  • Security Standards: In-depth knowledge of NIST, STIGs, RMF, and other relevant security frameworks. Experience implementing and maintaining secure systems.
  • Automation Tools: Expertise in automation tools such as Ansible and PowerShell. Ability to create automated deployment scripts and processes.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Hands-on experience with system prototyping and testing. Ability to conduct thorough testing and validation of solutions.
  • Documentation Skills: Excellent technical writing skills for creating comprehensive documentation. Ability to produce clear and concise configuration, operation, and maintenance guides.

Desired Experience:
  • Previous experience in a similar role within the DoD or defense contracting industry.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex projects from concept to deployment.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field with 6+ years of relevant experience, or 10+ years of relevant experience without a degree.
  • Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • DoD 8570 Certification: IAT Level II or higher (Security+ CE, CISSP, or equivalent).
