Job Title: Mainframe Developer

Location: Columbus, OH (Hybrid)

Contract: W2 Only

Duration: 12+ Months

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Mainframe Developer to design, develop, and maintain mission-critical z/OS applications. The ideal candidate will have expertise in COBOL, DB2, CICS, and modern DevOps practices for mainframe environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain COBOL, CICS, and Assembler applications on z/OS
  • Design and optimize DB2 and IMS database structures
  • Create and manage JCL for batch processing and job scheduling
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for mainframe applications
  • Integrate CICS with MQ and configure z/OS Connect for API deployments
  • Develop high availability and disaster recovery solutions
  • Perform performance analysis and troubleshooting using monitoring tools
  • Process VSAM files and use File-AID for data management
  • Utilize ISPW for source code management and version control
  • Implement automation solutions using Excel VBA macros
  • Schedule jobs using Control-M and manage workflows
  • Collaborate with teams to modernize mainframe applications
  • Document technical specifications and system changes

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 13+ years of mainframe development experience with z/OS
  • Strong expertise in COBOL, DB2, CICS, and JCL
  • Experience with IMS database systems
  • Knowledge of VSAM file processing
  • Familiarity with mainframe tools: ISPW, File-AID, CAFM, DFSORT, LUMI
  • Understanding of mainframe monitoring and performance tuning
  • Basic knowledge of mainframe automation techniques
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite and Excel VBA macros
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Ability to integrate mainframe systems with modern APIs

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Knowledge of Assembler programming
  • Understanding of cloud integration patterns
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
