Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Telecom Engineer with hands-on experience in the maintenance, configuration, and support of Alcatel PBX systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of enterprise telephony environments and be responsible for ensuring uptime, performance, and scalability of Alcatel-based voice infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform day-to-day operations and maintenance of Alcatel OmniPCX PBX systems and related telephony infrastructure.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize PBX extensions, voicemail, IVR, call routing, and trunk lines (SIP/PRI/Analog).
- Conduct routine system upgrades, patches, and backups for Alcatel systems.
- Monitor system performance, diagnose faults, and provide timely resolution of issues.
- Coordinate with vendors and telecom providers for installation, service changes, and support.
- Manage Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs) for end users across PBX systems.
- Support and integrate VoIP and SIP trunking solutions.
- Document configuration changes, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Ensure telecom systems are compliant with security and data protection standards.
- Provide Level 2/3 support for escalated telecom-related incidents.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Alcatel PBX systems (e.g., OmniPCX Enterprise).
- Strong understanding of PBX architecture, call flows, and telephony protocols.
- Experience configuring SIP trunks, PRI lines, and analog telephony.
- Familiarity with telecom hardware: phones, gateways, routers, and switches.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring schematics.
- Solid troubleshooting skills in both hardware and software telephony environments.
- Experience with telecom monitoring tools and system logs.
- Working knowledge of VoIP technologies and networking basics (TCP/IP, VLANs, QoS).
- Good communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Alcatel-Lucent systems (e.g., ACFE, ACSE) is a plus.
- Experience integrating Alcatel systems with CRM, call recording, or contact center platforms.
- Exposure to Microsoft Teams Direct Routing, Cisco, or Avaya PBX is an added advantage.
- Basic knowledge of scripting or automation for telecom tasks.
