Boeing Commercial Airlines (BCA) has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical & Structural Engineering Manager (level K) to join our Structures Engineering team based in Long Beach, CA.

The BCA - Long Beach Structures team works on a variety of recurring and non-recurring projects for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. We also collaborate closely with our counterparts in BGS and BDS. Our team provides the opportunity to experience many facets of the Boeing Company in one place.

The SoCal Structures teams provide support to keep programs across all three Boeing business units-BCA, BDS, and BGS-on track and meet our customer commitments. The open manager position is for our design team. The manager will collaborate with their management peers to execute our strategy of growth and technical excellence. They will work closely with programs in Puget Sound, Charleston, Oklahoma, and many other sites to ensure our production system is healthy and that Boeing meets its goals.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Manages employee's performance and long-term development.
  • Leads the hiring and training for of new and established employees.
  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals.
  • Implements and motivates the team to engage in leadership initiatives.
  • Maintains or enhances a team culture that enables clear, open, and honest communications peer-to-peer and employees-to-management.
  • Manages staffing for projects and processes and integrates staffing plans with functional peers and leadership.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 5+ years of structural engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in leading a team, formally or informally.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience collaborating with other engineering disciplines, production and/or regulatory organization.
  • Ability to manage and organize multiple statements of work.
  • Experience in team development and coaching.
  • Structures design engineering experience.

Pay Range Summary:
