FP&A Business Analyst - Financial Systems Projects

Boston, MA (Hybrid 3 to 4 days/week) Global Atlantic Financial Group

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a member of the FP&A Transformation project team with the Insurance System Transformation, the FP&A Business Analyst will play a key role in supporting projects that enhance and automate financial planning and analysis processes. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong analytical aptitude, the ability to evaluate and optimize processes related to FP&A projections, and experience working with complex financial data. Prior exposure to Life & Annuity insurance or related financial services firms is highly preferred. The role requires an individual who can bridge technology and finance, effectively communicating with both functional FP&A users and technical developers. The FP&A Business Analyst will be responsible for ensuring that financial systems and processes deliver accurate, timely, and actionable insights for management decision-making.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Process Analysis: Analyze FP&A projection processes, including forecasting, variance analysis, and scenario modeling, to identify opportunities for automation, efficiency, and reconciliation improvements.

Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with FP&A teams and developers to define and document system requirements, ensuring alignment with financial reporting and planning objectives.

Testing & Validation: Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate system functionality against business needs, particularly around financial data accuracy.

Data Integrity & Controls: Partner with finance teams to ensure the integrity, consistency, and quality of financial data across planning and reporting systems.

Continuous Improvement: Apply critical thinking to evaluate current FP&A workflows, challenge assumptions, and propose alternative solutions to improve forecasting accuracy and operational efficiency.

Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a liaison between finance (FP&A) and technology teams, facilitating effective communication, managing priorities, and ensuring successful delivery of project objectives.

Reporting & Insights: Support the design and delivery of financial dashboards, KPIs, and reports to enhance decision-making across leadership teams.

EDUCATION

Bachelor s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Advanced degree (MBA, MS in Finance, or related field) preferred but not required.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Financial Expertise: 5-10+ years of experience in FP&A or financial systems roles within Life & Annuity insurance, or financial services industries.

Technical Proficiency: Experience with financial planning platforms (e.g., Hyperion, Anaplan, Adaptive Insights, or similar tools) and comfort working with large datasets.

Analytical Aptitude: Strong ability to analyze financial processes, identify issues, and recommend improvements. Skilled in projections, scenario analysis, and variance reporting.

Communication Skills: Excellent ability to communicate with both finance professionals and IT developers. Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel; ability to translate technical and financial concepts for diverse stakeholders.

Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to independently identify process inefficiencies and recommend creative, practical solutions.
