Job Description:

A Network Manager oversees the design, implementation, and maintenance of an organization's computer and network systems, ensuring they operate efficiently, securely, and reliably. This role involves planning, directing, and coordinating network activities, as well as troubleshooting issues, implementing security measures, and optimizing network performance. Network Managers also manage a team of network specialists, collaborate with other IT departments, and stay updated on the latest networking technologies.

Core Responsibilities:

Network Design and Implementation:

Planning, designing, and installing network infrastructure, including hardware and software, to meet the organization's needs.

Network Maintenance and Support:

Ensuring the stable operation of the network by monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and performing regular maintenance tasks like backups and updates.

Network Security:

Implementing and maintaining security measures, such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems, to protect the network from unauthorized access and cyber threats.

Performance Optimization:

Monitoring network performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing solutions to optimize speed and efficiency.

Team Leadership and Collaboration:

Managing a team of network specialists, providing guidance and support, and collaborating with other IT departments.

Staying Updated:

Keeping abreast of the latest networking technologies, trends, and security protocols.

Specific Tasks:

Configuring and maintaining network hardware like routers, switches, and firewalls.

Troubleshooting network connectivity issues and resolving end-user hardware and software problems.

Developing and implementing network security policies and procedures.

Analyzing network performance data and generating reports.

Managing network projects, including upgrades and migrations.

Training staff on network usage and security best practices.

Managing network documentation and maintaining an accurate inventory of network assets.
